“MOVEMENT” THEME

hosting a group exhibition entitled Movement, July 28 through to August 28 , as part of 2015
Western Canada Summer Games. This group exhibition will feature two dimensional artworks by
local artists that explore the theme of movement in any style from traditional representation to
abstraction.
BACKGROUND:
MacDonald Island Park is acting as a host venue for some of the events at the 2015 Western
Canada Summer Games, which promotes collaboration between local organizations, athletes,
business and industry this August. Artists are invited to submit their favorite movement-themed
pieces as part of this exciting exhibition and celebration. Images can include but are not limited
to: Figurative, Non-Figurative or Abstract. Creative interpretation of this movement theme is
encouraged! Maximum 2 entries per person.
EXHIBITION INFORMATION:
There is no exhibition fee for the Movement exhibition.
All two dimensional mediums, sizes and styles are welcome.
ARTWORK SUBMISSION GUIDELINES AND CRITERIA:

Applications must be received electronically by June 25 , 2015 by 4:00PM MST.
Please include all the information below in one email and send to [email protected]
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
1. Applicants must be over 16 years old and send a short bio (max 100 words)
2. All pieces must be original, no copies or prints please
3. All artwork must be dry and ready to hang (wire setting 1/3 from the top of the artwork)
4. All pieces must be framed and signed (stretched canvas is acceptable if it has finished
edges)
5. High Resolution digital photo of your submission (JPG)
6. Label Information: Your name as you would like it to appear, the title of your work, the
medium (oil, watercolor, collage, acrylic, mixed media, printmaking, digital media,
photography, etc.) and the dimensions (in inches)
SELECTION PROCESS:
Art will be selected by an art committee. There is no guarantee that all art submitted will be

chosen. Artists will be notified by e-mail of selection of artworks for exhibition by July 4 , 2014.
1. It is the artists’ choice to list a piece of artwork for sale. The price and all arrangements
for the sale must be managed by the artist.
2. Artists are responsible for making arrangements to drop-off and pick-up their artwork at
the designated times and place. Because the gallery has no storage space, artwork
cannot be stored.
3. Any artwork not claimed by the artist by the designated time, or alternate time arranged in
advance with the MacDonald Island Community Art Gallery, will be deemed donated to
our annual charity sale – with all proceeds going to a designated charity or non-profit
organization.

Selected exhibition artwork must be dropped off on July 23 at preselected times, by
artist unless arrangements are made in advance.

Opening reception July 29th, 2015 from 7PM to 9PM. All guests are welcome.

artist unless arrangements are made in advance.
SECURITY AND LIABILITY
Basic security measures are in place (periodic patrols by guards, security cameras, safety hooks), but
exhibits will NOT be supervised at all times. The gallery is located in a public facility and is a designated fire
escape route. The gallery is equipped with sprinklers. All possible care will be taken to keep artwork in the
same condition as it was when delivered to the gallery, but neither MacDonald Island Park nor MacDonald
Island Community Art Gallery can guarantee this and cannot accept liability for loss or damage to
artwork. Each artist will be required to sign a waiver in order to exhibit their work in the gallery. Each artist is
responsible for securing INSURANCE for their artwork.
