On arrival in the Argentinian capital today, you will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. Enjoy the day at leisure to relax or perhaps step out to familiarise yourself with the city. Today’s guided sightseeing tour of Buenos Aires begins this morning at the Avenida de Mayo. See the pink Casa Rosada (Government House), the city’s cathedral and the Cabildo, Buenos Aires’ first city hall. Continue on to Café Tortoni, a famous literati coffeehouse that dates all the way back to 1858. Here, indulge in coffee and croissants as you take part in an fun introductory Spanish class. Afterwards, ride the famous subway then visit San Telmo, the city’s oldest barrio (district). Later, explore the Italian-influenced barrio of La Boca and its colourful pedestrian street, the Caminito. Then travel along the widest avenue in the world, Avenida 9 de Julio. This evening enjoy dinner at your leisure, or perhaps participate in an Optional Experience – an Argentinean BBQ dinner at the wonderful El Mirasol De La Recova. B Day 4. Buenos Aires. Fly from Buenos Aires to Iguassu Falls, a system of 275 falls on the border of Argentina and Brazil. On the Argentinian side, take the Rainforest Ecological Train through forest to a series of walkways and viewing points, including one that leads to the 82 metre-high Devil’s Throat falls. Later, cross into Brazil. Stay (Two Nights): Iguassu Falls, Hotel Bourbon Cataratas. BD Day 6. Iguassu Falls. This morning experience the majesty of Brazil’s World Heritage-listed Iguassu National Park. Later, perhaps visit the Parque das Aves Bird Park on an Optional Experience. Here, enjoy the chance to get close to a range of native South American birds, including flamingos, parrots and macaws, plus several species of the iconic toucan. Alternatively, enjoy time at leisure. Iguassu Falls, Rio de Janeiro. Fly to Rio de Janeiro today and soak up the city’s unique vibe during time at leisure, before embarking on a sunset cable car ride to the peak of Sugarloaf Mountain. A Taste of Churrasco – head to Porcão Rio’s steakhouse to sample Brazil’s national cocktail, the caipirinha, before enjoying a delicious Brazilian BBQ. With today at leisure, you can explore Rio de Janeiro as you please, or perhaps board a jeep for one of two Optional Experiences that are available. After breakfast, head to Corcovado, a mountain that’s famous for its statue of Christ the Redeemer, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Rio de Janeiro, Santiago (Chile). Farewell Brazil this morning and fly to Santiago, the Chilean capital. Situated in the Santiago basin, this coastal city is spectacularly flanked by the Andes. This morning a guided city sightseeing tour takes you to Santiago’s central square, the Plaza de Armas. Afterwards, journey to San Cristóbal Hill to take in the beautiful views out over the city. A Chilean Wine Tasting – later today, travel to the nearby San Antonio Valley for a guided tour, a tasting of Chilean wine and lunch at the boutique vineyards of Matetic. With this evening at leisure, you’re able to dine at a local restaurant of your choice. BL Day 12. Santiago, Lima (Peru). Today heralds the start of your Peruvian discovery, as you fly from Santiago to Lima. Enjoy a locally-guided tour through the World Heritage-listed Historic Centre of Lima. See the Monastery of San Francisco catacombs and tour the Archbishop Palace, the Basilica Cathedral of Lima and more. Lima, Cusco, Chincheros, Sacred Valley. Today fly to the World Heritage-listed city of Cusco, former capital of the Incan Empire. Travel by coach through Cusco to Chincheros, a city located in the stunning Andean highlands. Here, during a traditional weaving demonstration, see how the colourful materials of South America are created by local people and learn of their importance in preserving ancient traditions. Enjoy dinner at your leisure tonight. Stay (Two Nights): Aranwa Sacred Valley Hotel.B Day 14. Sacred Valley. Enjoy a full day today exploring the Sacred Valley, starting with a visit to the markets of Pisac, a hilltop handicraft village located near various Incan ruins. Taste the Spirit of the Sacred Valley – later, head to Wayra, a boutique restaurant and equestrian centre. Here you’ll indulge in a traditional BBQ lunch and watch a Peruvian Paso horse demonstration, as well as a performance of the ‘la marinera’ – Peru’s national dance. Your sightseeing then continues with a visit to Ollantaytambo, a former Incan royal estate. Afterwards, enjoy the rest of today at leisure back at your hotel. BL Day 15. Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu. Today board the Vistadome train and soak up the Andean landscapes as you head to World Heritage-listed Machu Picchu, set some 2,400 metres above sea level. On arrival, head out on a locally-guided tour of the famous Lost City of the Incas, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World and the most familiar icon of the Inca World. After breakfast, enjoy the morning at leisure to relax or make use of your hotel’s facilities. This morning, take a coach to the city of Puno, located approximately 3,860 metres above sea level on the shores of Lake Titicaca. Along the way, stop at the small town of Andahuaylillas, known for its Sistine chapel, as well as Raqchi, home to a significant Incan archaeological site. You’ll also stop for a hearty buffet lunch. Set on the border of Peru and Bolivia, Lake Titicaca is the highest altitude lake in the world.
