Raleigh Surgery Newsletter Winter 2016
Surgery News:
A very big THANK YOU goes out to Friends of Raleigh Surgery – our patient group –
their dedication and enthusiasm is admirable as are their craft and cake baking skills
which were beautifully displayed at the Christmas Fayre. Another fund raising success
for which all monies made are going towards buying a new INR machine so that near
patient testing can be carried out by more than one nurse at a time. So far this year
the group have raised enough money to buy new blood pressure machines, a paediatric
oximeter, nebulisers and a new examination couch.
The group fund raise through selling books and holding coffee mornings on the first
Monday of the month – everyone is welcome. All proceeds go towards buying essential
equipment for the surgery and a chosen charity – this year’s being Breast Cancer
Awareness.
We have a Christmas raffle running at the moment with some fantastic prizes to
support both worthy causes. Tickets can be bought from reception.
We were sorry to say goodbye to Dr Samantha Cole, who was working with us on a
regular basis on Tuesdays and has now left us to work for the charity ADDACTION in
Exeter although she hopes to come back and locum for us in the future. We wish her
the very best of luck. She will be replaced by Dr Jeffrey Solman who will be with us
every Tuesday from January.
Flu Vaccination Clinics – If you have not yet had you flu vaccination we still have some
left just book in with Claire or one of the nurses.
Repeat Prescriptions
Please ensure you have enough medication for Christmas and make sure you allow plenty
of time during the festive period to order your prescription and collect it. We are
closed from 6pm 23rd December until 8.30am Wednesday 28th December.
Appointments
Travel
If you are planning on any holidays in the New Year you need to have your vaccines at
least six weeks before you leave for your destination. In order to research what you
may need it would be helpful if you had a look at the travel website NATHNAC –
(national travel heath and network centre) before you see the nurse so you have an idea
of what vaccinations you will need.
Please, please let us know if you cannot make an appointment. Last
month 64 appointments were not attended which is an enormous waste of time!!
Friends and Family Test Thank you for all your kind comments and feedback in response
to this . We have had mostly positive comments couple of favourites being:
‘Timely appointments, friendly and efficient’.
‘Been using the surgery 25 years, staff are friendly. Never have to wait long to be
seen. Feel as part of the family’.
Other services offered at Raleigh Surgery include : Carer and chiropody clinics held
once a month ask reception for details.
Change of circumstance
Please let the reception team know if you change your name, telephone number or
address so that we are able to update your records. Next of kin details are also
appreciated – just in case of an emergency!
Raleigh Surgery would like to thank the secret Santa who generously left gifts outside
the surgery for all. Very much appreciated by the staff.
The Team from Raleigh Surgery wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy and
Healthy New Year.
