The donation is part of the ‘Feeding the Hungry’ coast-to-coast tour, which will donate nearly 20 million servings of protein over three years to Feeding America – The Nation’s Food Bank Network. “The need for the food bank and our partner agencies is greater than ever,” said Lynn Brantley, president and CEO of the Capital Area Food Bank. “Food is the most basic human right and this donation of protein will help us ensure that those struggling to get enough food to eat have access to quality, nutritious food.” The ‘Feeding the Hungry’ initiative is part of Smithfield’s ‘Helping Hungry Homes’ campaign that was established to provide hunger relief to families in need.
