THE IUCN RED LIST OF THREATENED SPECIES™ Taxonomy Kingdom Phylum Class Order Family Animalia Chordata Actinopterygii Characiformes Alestidae Taxon Name: Ladigesia roloffi Géry, 1968 Common Name(s): • English: Jelly bean tetra Assessment Information Red List Category & Criteria: Endangered B1ab(iii)+2ab(iii) ver 3.1 Year Published: 2010 Date Assessed: November 27, 2006 Justification: It is only known from one location, the type locality Kasewe (Sierra Leone) according to Paugy et al. (2003) and possibly in a second locality in Liberia according to FishBase. The estimated extent of occurrence and area of occupancy are less than 5,000 km² and less than 500 km², respectively. The extent and quality of habitat is undergoing and continuous decline due to mining, urban and deforestation developments. The species is therefore assessed as Endangered. Geographic Range Range Description: This species is only known from the type locality Kasewe (Sierra Leone), which is said to have been captured in one of the small water courses belonging to the Gbangbaia basin, a small brook located to the west of the Jong. It is also reported from Liberia.
