Key Problem:
Whilst people in Britain were living in caves,
what was happening in the rest of the world?
Enquiry Questions: Have people all over the world always lived differently?
How do we know ancient civilisations existed?
Why should we find out more about one of the dynasties?
Why did the Egyptians build pyramids at Giza and not in the desert?
Why was the River Nile so important to the Egyptians?
When the river Nile flooded the Egyptians had more water than they could use. How could they save this water for use in the
rest of the year?
We have decided that we will work together to solve our problem and answer our questions by using the skills below.

Break down three and four digit
numbers in different ways eg.
Hundreds, tens and units
To order three and four digit
numbers from smallest to
largest and vice versa
To explain what each digit in a
number represents
Using a number line to count
back through zero into negative
numbers (Year 4)
Add and subtract two and three
digit numbers (Year 3)
Add and subtract whole numbers
to 4 digits (Year 4)
Add and subtract numbers with
one decimal place (Year 4)
As Artists, Designers and
Musicians we are learning to…
 Play brass instruments as part
of a group, with a teacher from
the Stockport Music Service.

 Investigate how the Egyptians
coped when the River Nile
flooded and design and make our
own Shaduf.
