Climate: Bolivia is divided into three climatic zones: the
Altiplano; the valleys between mountain spurs; and the tropics,
or Yungas Lowlands. From Dec.-Feb., high rainfall in the Salt Flat
region makes travel unfavorable. La Paz is situated on the
Altiplano, a high windswept plateau that covers 16% of the
country. Weather on the Altiplano can vary, even within the
