PRODUCT DATA SHEET Diamond!Scan STYLI WITH SPHERES MADE FROM THE HARDEST MATERIAL IN THE WORLD Most coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) are fitted with styli containing spheres made of ruby or silicon nitride. Without doubt, these materials are extremely hard, but upon contact with other hard materials, such as ceramics, they quickly wear and lose their original shape. Upon contact with extremely soft materials, such as aluminium, built-up edges frequently form on the surface of the sphere, again causing them to lose the correct shape. Both phenomena lead to the loss of the original shape and therefore reduced measurement accuracy. The Diamond!Scan stylus was specially developed to prevent these problems. The strengths of this stylus become particularly clear when it comes into contact with extremely hard or soft materials. Hard materials no longer degrade the sphere and soft materials no longer leave deposits on it. This saves the costs of checks, cleaning and calibrations. Due to this prolonged service life, these styli quickly pay off the initial cost of purchase. • Sphere always retains its shape, even with hard materials • No material build up • Required checks, cleaning and calibrations are significantly reduced • Consistent measurement results without recalibration Styli with coated spheres: Styli with spheres made of solid material: Part number Sphere Length Thread Part number Sphere Length Thread M00-694-188-000 ø 3 mm 50 mm M5 M00-694-190-000 ø 1 mm 22 mm 2mm M00-694-189-000 ø 5 mm 80 mm M5 M00-694-194-000 ø 3 mm 30 mm M5 M00-694-187-000 ø 3 mm 35 mm M5 M00-694-192-000 ø 3 mm 35 mm M5 M00-694-196-000 ø 1 mm 30 mm M5 M00-694-193-000 ø 3 mm 50 mm M5 M00-694-199-000 ø 3 mm 50 mm M3 M00-694-195-000 ø 3 mm 60 mm M3 M00-694-197-000 ø 1 mm 20 mm M3 M00-694-198-000 ø 3 mm 20 mm M3 DIAMOND COATING OR SOLID MATERIAL Diamond!Scan styli are available with either spheres made of solid material or with a diamond coating. The solid diamond styli are extremely robust; the toughest styli on the market. The coated styli have a unique roundness of less than 150 nm, which makes them the most precise styli available. The styli are available in different variations in terms of the material and diameter of the sphere, length of the stylus and the connection thread. Numerous variants, including solid diamond or diamond coating.
