6:30 Report on staff/board/PTA retreat

At the recent staff/board/PTA retreat, we had several PTA representatives, including all staff members, Mr.
Micah Hibpshman, Mrs. Angie Munoz, and Mrs. Herb from the PTA. The purpose of the meetings was to
working on implementing continuous school improvement as a data-driven and thoughtful process. Staff is
committed to using this approach through the year and bringing in the PTA when appropriate.
6:35 Report on Membership

Mrs. Cantin is in charge of membership. There is a fee of $15 dollars. From the membership forms, Mr.
Hibpshman will create a list of members so we can send out agendas and information to all members. There
are additional forms turned in to the PTA folder in the office.
6:40 Report on Budget

While there is money in the account, the books have not yet been balanced from the summer months. We
are still working on getting coordinated and fully trained.
6:45 Report on Kindergarten Parent Welcome/ Back to School Night
Kindergarten welcome was a success and allowed teachers and some more experienced teachers to welcome
our kindergarten parents. Thank you to all who contributed.
There was not a huge turn out for back-to-school night, but we did get positive feedback and many parents
took bumper stickers. Some parents were interested in joining, but would not be able to make many of the
meetings.
6:50 Jog-a-thon

Jog-a-thon is coming up on Tuesday, October 6th, 2016.
● Pledge sheets went out on Monday, September 12th via the classroom teachers. A soft copy could
also go out electronically.
● Nobody needs to bring money until AFTER the Jog-a-thon.
● We have UPS labels for students’ backs, which will be labeled with the students’ names. Mrs. Stores
will need a list of the student’s from each class. Mr. Weaver usually sets up the course with cones.
● Volunteers needed for setting up table, water station, otter pops (donated by Mrs. Masterson), and a
few chairs. We will need volunteers to mark the backs to count laps, then tally the laps for the
students. Ms. O’Malley will make a sign-up genius for various shifts and coordinate communication

with Mr. Weaver. Mr. Hipshman will contact Starbucks about a donation of coffee for the
volunteers. Ms. Haight will look into contacts for a Red Cross education station and bubbles.
20 sharpies are needed for volunteers to mark student laps.
The day of:
K-2 will warm up at 8:45, run 9-9:30am
3-5 will warm up at 9:45, run 10-10:30am
6-7 will warm up at 10:45, run 11-11:30am
8 will run in the afternoon due to a conflict
After the jog-a-thon, we will need to tally the laps and staple an envelope (with the student’s name
and grade) to the form (or an extra form if the student didn’t turn theirs in). Money will come into
the office and be tallied by Mrs. Langston.
The top earning class will get a popcorn party and the top earner from each grade will get a pizza
party with Mrs. Macy (and Mrs. Denman). We are committed to offering experience over trinkets,
stickers, or prizes.
Mrs. Haight will make a jog-a-thon poster for the hallway.
Receipts for donations are available on request.
7:15 Parent Information Nights

Mrs. Munoz has arranged for a parent information night on college savings for October 26, 2015 at
6:30pm in the library.

Ms. O’Malley will look into contacting businesses for Night Out dates.

7:22 Carpooling
Mrs. Stores proposed coordinated carpooling by providing a stick pin for the map that families could mark
where they commute from and what grade their students are in. We will organize this for Harvest Festival
on October 6th, 2016. Mr. Hibpshman will look into getting a map, Mrs. Erbe will attach the papers to push
pins (different colors for each grade), Ms. O’Malley will table at Harvest Festival.
Ms. O’Malley will facilitate an information exchange for those who signed up for carpooling at Back-toSchool Night.
7:30 Rummage Sale
Open
● Mrs. Haight did a walk through with Mrs. Denman to look available “rummage”. It is currently
being stored in the Bullpen.
● We will need volunteers to help move items to the covered area on October 7th. (Andy Kutzman
was volunteered).
● We will need volunteers to sell items on October 8th.
● Ms. O’Malley will look into advertsing via: Facebook, Offer Up, Craigslist, Oregon Live, Next Door,
News organizations

Uniform Closet
Mrs. Cram (6th grade parent) will volunteer in the uniform closet when her schedule allows. Mr. Hibpshman
will provide a lock box for optional donations.
Boxtops
At future meetings, we will clip and count boxtops, as well as think about coordinating a classroom
competition and other ways to get more donations.
Super Reader Program
On hold for now.
