The Leasowes The Leasowes Health Walk Health Walk Walk description The free, weekly Monday morning walk will take you over footpaths, and varying terrain, and include impressive views of the local area. Our Volunteer Walk Leaders will use varying routes within and around The Leasowes. Each week there will be three walks of about 40 minutes, 60 minutes and 80 minutes on offer to cater for walkers of different abilities. Walkers need to wear appropriate footwear and clothing, and if bringing dogs, they must be kept on a fixed lead. Please note that changes may be made if the weather is inclement. Monthly Progression Walks For walkers who want more of a challenge, The Leasowes walking group offers longer ‘Progression’ walks at various local venues. These walks take place on the first Monday of the month, unless otherwise stated, and are in addition to the normal weekly walks. Details of the progression walks are listed on the back of this flyer. Unless otherwise stated, all walks start at 10:00 (meet at 09:50 for registration) and can take up to 2½ hours. Refreshments are available to buy in the Visitor Centre, after the walk. Meet at Waseley Hills CP Car Park, post code B45 9AT. A parking fee applies. Walk intensity – medium. 7th November 2016 – Bumble Hole, Warren’s Hall, and Dudley #2 Canal. A gentle walk around Bumble Hole and Warren’s Hall, then along the Dudley #2 Canal to The Leasowes. A walk of about 4.5 miles, up to 2 hours. Meet at The Leasowes Car Park, post code B62 8DH. A coach will take us to Bumble Hole, a small charge will apply, payable in advance. The coach will leave The Leasowes at 09:45 sharp. Walk Intensity – easy to medium. 5th December 2016 – Galton Bridge to Brindley Place, Birmingham. A leisurely linear walk along the canal towpath of the Birmingham Main Line Canal and the Soho Loop to the junction with the Birmingham and Fazeley and Birmingham to Worcester Canals, near the ICC. A walk of about 5 miles, taking up to 2 hours. Meet at the entrance to Galton Bridge Railway Station for a 10:15 start. Post code B71 4BG. Refreshments are available at a number of outlets in Brindley Place, or visit the German Market, or shopping at Grand Central, before making your own way home by train from Snow Hill/Moor Street, or by bus from Colmore Row. Walk Intensity – easy. 2nd January 2017 – New Year’s Day – The Leasowes, Coombswood, and the Dudley #2 Canal. A leisurely walk around The Leasowes, across Coombswood, down Gorsty Hill, and back along the Canal to The Leasowes. About one-and-a-half hours. Meet at The Leasowes car park, B62 8DH. Refreshments in the Warden’s Base at The Leasowes after the walk. Family groups welcome. Walk intensity – easy to medium. 6th February 2017 - Sandwell Valley Country Park A leisurely walk around Sandwell Valley Country Park, of about 4.5 miles. Refreshments at the RSPB Visitor Centre at about the half-way point. Meet at the car park opposite the Adventure Playground in Salter’s Lane (behind Dartmouth Park) West Bromwich. Follow brown signs for Sandwell Valley CP from Newton Road. Postcode B71 4BG. Walk Intensity – easy. 6th March 2017 – Himley Park and Baggeridge A leisurely walk through Himley Park to Baggeridge Country Park, of about 5 miles, about 2 hours + break. Refreshments are available in the Visitor Centre Tea Shop at Baggeridge at about the mid-point of the walk. Meet at Himley Hall Car Park, parking fee applies. Post code DY3 4DF.
