Traditional Farm Fresh Turkeys
TURKEY QUESTION & ANSWERS:
The Deeley family have been rearing poultry at Flower Farm at the foot of
the North Downs since the mid 1950’s using traditional farming methods.
Our white and bronze turkeys are raised the old fashioned way in open Victorian
barns with lots of fresh air and space. We believe that our traditional farming
methods are essential to make the most important meal of the year a delicious and
flavoursome one. Our growing number of families who return each year to enjoy
the full flavour of a traditional Christmas Turkey are a testimony to this.
Each turkey is individually inspected and examined before leaving the farm.

thermometer to take the guess work out of cooking! (giblets included)

Q. I have heard that hen birds taste better. Can I have a hen bird ? .
A. With our birds the quality and taste of both sexes is almost identical
and its doubtful that most palates would tell the difference.
Q. What are your turkeys fed on?
A. All our turkey feeds have been carefully selected using traditional,
wholesome & raw materials. Wherever possible we use materials grown by
British farmers.
Q. What is kgs in lbs ?
A. Multiply kgs by 2.2 to get approx lbs.
Q. How many people will my bird feed ?
A. We recommend 500g per person for an average meal ( 250g for a
breast roast )
Q. How do I store my turkey ?
A. Remove the turkey from the box and store in fridge ( or a suitably cold
place eg maybe a garage - but leave in the box ). Open the box as little as
possible, but put the giblets, in their pack, in the fridge.

Q. Are the giblets with the bird ?
A. Yes, with whole birds and should be stored in the fridge in their bag.

Q. I have an Aga - which oven should I use in it ?
A. For a 2-door Aga, follow our cooking times using the top roasting oven
only. For a 4-door Aga, follow the cooking times using the top roasting
oven for the first 30 mins & then move to the baking oven for the
remainder of the cooking.

Q. How long can it be kept before cooking?
A. At 4 C ( a very cold fridge ) for 5 days.
Q. Should I cover my bird with foil ?
A. We recommend that you DO NOT cover the turkey with foil as this
tends to steam the skin, rather than roast it. Look at our cooking guide
with your turkey for lots more helpful tips.
