founding father of ski instruction, Austrian Hannes
Schneider, who brought his world-renowned skills
to North Conway and Mt. Cranmore in 1939.
Schneider introduced skiing fun and excitement to millions
around the globe.
If you can ski around a few gates on intermediate terrain, you are invited to participate in the race…and

The Carroll Reed Cup will be awarded to the fastest
team made up of snowsports industry personnel,
family and associates. The trophy commemorates ski
industry pioneer Carroll Reed.
Friday, March 7
The EMS Randonee Night Tour is an up-and
down-mountain ski tour that evokes the ski ascents
Hannes Schneider made in pre-ski lift St. Anton,
while showcasing the best of modern alpine touring
demo gear from EMS.
Saturday, March 8
It’s an unforgettable weekend of skiing,
socializing and just plain FUN.

Schedule of Events
Hannes Schneider was a mountain soldier in World
War I, and the race pays tribute to America’s mountain troops. The Color Guard and soldiers of the
active duty 10th Mountain Division of Fort Drum,
New York, and the Army Mountain Warfare School of Jericho,
Vermont usually take part in this memorable event.
Your participation in this event helps fund the collection and conservation of our skiing heritage exhibited
at the New England Ski Museum. Located at Cannon
Mountain in Franconia Notch, NH, the non-profit
museum offers an archive of skiing history with colorful exhibits, an extensive library, significant collections of ski-related
artifacts, and a comprehensive website, www.skimuseum.org.
Admission to the museum is free of charge.
