he new Kyle Field stadium will be more
advanced than any previous iteration.
There's no denying it.
The last vestiges of the old, gray facade will
come tumbling down early Sunday morning at
the push of a button. It may seem like a drastic
change to perform a complete face-lift, but for many
Aggies, Kyle Field has always
been on a path of growth.

From wooden stands to three decks and a
swaying press box, the essence of Kyle Field goes
beyond a record of 397-159-19 in football.
Three U.S. presidents have visited the field.
Dozens of governors, too. Dignitaries and celebrities of all types have made the trip to the Home
of the 12th Man.
In more than 100 years, Kyle Field
has changed facets more than a dozen
times. But the Aggie spirit remains the
same.

the stadium opens Sept. 12 for the game against Ball State.

KYLE FIELD TIMELINE: MAKING HISTORY FROM THE GROUND UP
Edwin Jackson Kyle, class of 1899, did more than just give Aggie football players a place to fight it out on the
gridiron. His allotment of 400-square-acres for a football field in 1904 set the stage for what would become an
icon of Aggieland, and home of the 12th man. The fenced off field featured wooden benches, which were paid for
by Kyle out of his own pocket. The total cost? $312. Follow the timeline up the page to see the field of dreams
evolve into a $450 million state-of-the-art stadium.
