The last vestiges of the old, gray facade will come tumbling down early Sunday morning at the push of a button. It may seem like a drastic change to perform a complete face-lift, but for many Aggies, Kyle Field has always been on a path of growth. •1999: "The Fan Zone" and third deck are added to north side of Kyle Field. Capacity: 82,600 From wooden stands to three decks and a swaying press box, the essence of Kyle Field goes beyond a record of 397-159-19 in football. Three U.S. presidents have visited the field. Dozens of governors, too. Dignitaries and celebrities of all types have made the trip to the Home of the 12th Man. In more than 100 years, Kyle Field has changed facets more than a dozen times. But the Aggie spirit remains the same. Capacity: 35,000 SQUARE FEET The square-footage for the west side will increase to a 130,000 square-feet on the ground, thanks to the Hall of Champions. His allotment of 400-square-acres for a football field in 1904 set the stage for what would become an icon of Aggieland, and home of the 12th man. The fenced off field featured wooden benches, which were paid for by Kyle out of his own pocket. The total cost? $312.
