Rubric Example - Deliver a Presentation Title / number of assessment task Assessment task 2 – Deliver a presentation Candidate name: Assessor name: Date of presentation: Unit(s) of Competency: BSBMM401A Make a presentation (PC 1.2, 1.3, 2.1 – 2.6, 3.1) Task Instructions This is one of three assessment tasks for this unit. In this task, you are required to deliver a 15 minute presentation on a topic relevant to your role as a VET trainer/assessor. Design your presentation to share skills and/or knowledge with other VET teachers who will be your audience. You will be given at least 2 weeks’ notice of the time and date of your presentation. The presentation can be in whatever format you deem relevant and effective. Examples include a workshop, traditional information session with PowerPoint presentation or webinar. Make sure you discuss your presentation format with your assessor/trainer/teacher at least one week prior including resources you may need such as specialist equipment (e.g. data projector, computer, whiteboard, and flipchart) or software (e.g. Flash, internet connection, Prezi). In some cases, these may not be available and you will need to bring in your own device with the appropriate software or use a different format for your presentation. You are responsible for providing any handouts, posters etc. that you wish to use. You must also seek appropriate feedback from your audience at the end to inform how your presentation can be improved and what worked well. The criteria for assessment are listed in the table below, along with the standard expected to be deemed not yet satisfactory/satisfactory or highly satisfactory. You must receive at least a satisfactory judgement for every criterion for this assessment to contribute to your overall competency. Note that to be deemed satisfactory, your presentation must not be less than 10 minutes or more than 20 minutes. 1 RTS Rubric exemplar 1 - Deliver a presentation Instructions to the Assessor Assign a time and date for all students to present and let them know this information at least 2 weeks prior Check with the candidates what type of presentation they are giving and confirm that you and they know what resources are needed and who is responsible for supplying those resources Ensure the presentation environment is suitable – e.g. the room and location of furniture, equipment such as a data projector is working Observe the student presentation and circle the description that best describes their performance against each criteria Make sure you time the presentation – it must be between 10 – 20 minutes to be deemed satisfactory. The content clearly supported the topic and used a variety of relevant/interesting information to communicate the key concepts e.g. generalisations, case studies, examples and evidence. The presenter is readily able to adapt the presentation based on the needs of the audience and situation. The presentation information was well organised, culturally appropriate and demonstrated good literacy skills (e.g. grammatically correct and correct spelling used) The presenter outlined the desired outcomes for the presentation used content mostly relevant to these outcomes. The presenter sticks to the topic with an acceptable variety of information to communicate the key concepts. The presenter adapts the content in a general way to the needs of the audience and the situation. The presentation information was culturally appropriate.
