Moses is Born and Called

Lesson to be learned by Sunday, February 24th
In the explanation of the first article, we believe that God has given us all our needs and “defends me against all danger… and guards and protects me from all evil. All this He does out of Fatherly, divine goodness and mercy, without any merit or worthiness in me.” Moses was protected from the evil pharaoh because of God’s love to protect His people in Egypt. Moses didn’t do anything to deserve being the child who was saved. It was all Gods doing. Moses was also saved in an “ark” type basket floating in the water. Just like Moses was saved in the water, we are saved in the waters of Baptism. We are rescued from sin, death, and the devil. Key Verse: Exodus 6:7
“Therefore, say to the Israelites: ‘I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. I will free you from being slaves to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment. 7 I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God. The Big Question?
Why did God Save
Moses?
God saved Moses to
save His people from
captivity.
Where is Jesus?
God saved Moses for a special purpose: to
rescue His people. The calling of Moses points to
a greater calling and rescue—the call of
Jesus to come to earth to save God’s
people from sin and death. The pharaoh
decreed to have all of
the sons of
Israel killed at birth; Herod attempted to
kill all the baby boys in Bethlehem at the
time of Jesus. Just like Moses led the people
out of Egypt, Matthew 2:15 says, “ Out of
