Supplies You Will Need: • A 4- or 6-foot table – depending on how much product you have to sell. • Cash Box with sufficient change – We recommend $50, with at least $25 in singles. • Tablecloth. The more colorful the better! • Tape, scissors, markers, pens and clipboard. • Any other décor you’d like to use to make your table stand out! Consider flowers. Tips for Promoting Your Sale! In the weeks leading up to your event: • Announce your sale early and often. • Spread the word in your school, congregation and/or community group. For sales held at your school or faith community, take advantage of regularly scheduled announcements to promote your sale. Put up flyers in visible areas at building entrances/exits and in hallways. • Promote to your broader community with announcements in newsletters, email lists, on your website and social media channels. Community bulletin boards are also a great way to get the word out. Pricing: You have purchased your PGP Sales Kit at our wholesale rates, with the expectation that you will sell each item at a retail price based on what you think your event and customers will support. As a guide for your sale, we suggest marking up your products by 25-30% from the wholesale prices. With this in mind, the following are suggested prices and price ranges: • Box of 6 Beautiful Bars: Retail price up to $13. Consider charging up to $15 for the variety packs. • Individual 12-oz. bags of Granola: Retail price $8 for Originola. Retail Price $9-10 for special recipe. • Individual Beautiful Bars: Retail price $2.50-3.00 per bar. We recommend that sales are cash or check only. All checks should be made out to Beautiful Day (this is the nonprofit that runs the PGP.) If someone prefers to make a donation without purchasing granola, they should write “donation” in the memo line so that we can send them a tax-deductible receipt. Tips for Promoting the Providence Granola Project at your Sale! • Educate yourself about refugee resettlement by exploring our website and blog, or subscribing to our e-newsletter—all at www.BeautifulDayRI.org–and follow us on Facebook! • Use your sale as a way to highlight refugee resettlement in your community. Let customers know that these products were created in Rhode Island, using high-quality, locally sourced ingredients, and made by refugees who are starting new lives in the U.S. • Have PGP information cards handy for customers and anyone who stops by your table. If you don’t know the answer to a question, don’t worry! Encourage people to contact the PGP and Beautiful Day staff directly. Tips for Setting up your Table: A colorful, well organized sales table will help attract customers! • Cover your table and add some decorative touches, appropriate to your event or theme. • Open some of the boxes so the contents are visible. Make sure that individual bags of granola are standing up. You can also open your case(s) of Beautiful Bars and prop them on their (folded under) lids. • When you have determined the pricing for your products, fill out the Price Sign with a bold tip marker so customers can easily see your prices. • Stand your PGP sign and price sign where they are visible using the easels provided. We suggest using a box or other prop to elevate the signs higher on the table. • Using the gloves provided, open a bag of granola and take out pieces, placing them in the cups provided. Just a small sample is all that’s needed. Arrange samples on your table or on a decorative tray or plate. • Put out the sign-up sheet on clipboard. All About Our Granola! Our signature granola, is mostly organic, locally sourced, minimally processed and uses no preservatives. The grains, seeds, nuts and fruits are bound together by a mixture of honey, cane juice, canola oil, vanilla and spices. As much as possible we keep each ingredient in its whole, natural form. Besides our Originola, we offer 4 additional varieties as well as monthly special recipes. All of our products are handmade in small batches by newly arrived refugees who are rebuilding their lives in the United States.
