IFA Rural Spring Clean Initiative
IFA continues the campaign to address the scourge of litter dumping in
rural Ireland. The Association has called on the Department of Environment
to introduce tougher penalties and ensure that local authorities more
effectively implement litter laws.
This follows the publication of a survey of IFA members, which found that over 60% of members are concerned
about the issue of rural littering, with 95% of those surveyed supporting the introduction of stronger penalties for
anyone who dumps litter out of cars or along roadside verges.
As part of the 2015 Rural Spring clean initiative, IFA has teamed up with IFFPG to encourage members, during
the month of April, to actively participate by removing litter on roadside verges around your farm. Please
participate by registering your clean-up activity and be in with a chance to win some great prizes.
Thank you for helping to keep our countryside tidy.

2016 IFA Calendar
Competition
The theme of this year’s calendar is ‘Farm Life
through a lens’. We are looking for beautiful,
colourful and thought provoking images that
capture the essence of Irish farming life. We want
snapshots of rural life at its best and Ireland in all
its natural beauty so we can create a calendar that
tells the story of Irish farm life in 2015.
Above: James Kelly, IFA Director of Organisation and Mairead Lavery, Editor Irish
country Living at the launch of the 2016 IFA Calendar competition.
If your photo catches the Judge’s eyes as one of the overall monthly winners, you can look forward to your picture being published
in the 2016 IFA calendar as well as a two-night stay in a luxurious Irish Country Hotel with a full Irish breakfast each morning. The
overall winner will be chosen by our judges and receive a prize of €2,000. The runner up will receive a prize of €500.
