BLACK HISTORY STUDY GROUP
The National Archives at Kansas City
(NARA) will present in partnership with the
Greater Kansas City Black History Study
Group, Dr. Rufus Burrow, Jr. & author Taylor
Branch (via video conference), to discuss the
50th Anniversary of the Nobel Prize Award to
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. A screening of the
December 1964 acceptance speech by Dr. King
in Oslo, Norway will precede an examination of
Dr. King’s leadership and theology in the Civil
Rights Movement.
Dr. Burrow is a leading King scholar and
Emeritus Professor at Christian Theological
Seminary in Indiana. Mr. Branch is a Pulitzer
Prize winning author of Civil Rights history. The
program discussion will be moderated by Dr.
Christopher Cantwell, Digital History &
Religious Studies scholar at the University of
Missouri, Kansas City. Technology support for

Learning Network.
