Hand in on Wednesday 11th May
English
In English we have been learning about instructions and explanations.
Bridget Riley is an artist who uses complementary colours in her art work. Read the
instructions. Follow the instructions to create your own picture inspired by Bridget Riley.
Writing Challenge
After you have made your image, can you write a short explanation about effects of using
complementary colours?
How to make a Bridget Riley Picture
You need:
A sheet of A5 black paper.
A sheet of A4 white paper.
∑ Draw wavy lines on the back lengthwise with a white
crayon (2-3cm wide).
∑ Cut out one line at a time and stick it down on A4 white
paper (across the width).
∑ Cut out the next wavy line and stick it leaving a band of
white paper showing (don’t make the lines too thin to
cut or glue).
∑ Continue until you have used up all your black paper.
∑ You could vary it by using a ruler and making your lines
straight or use your own ideas to create a black and
white Bridget Riley op-art image.
Maths
In maths this week we have been looking at the links between fractions and division.
Choose either section A or B to complete. If you want an extra challenge try answering the
word problems involving finding fractions of amounts. Remember to write out the
calculation, show your workings out and make sense of your answer.
