Football Field Project - Fort Thomas Independent Schools

HIGHLANDS HIGH SCHOOL
FOOTBALL FIELD IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
CONSTRUCTION UPDATE – June 1, 2015
Rapid progress on this project continues. Much of the work for the past few weeks has
surrounded the preparation and pouring of concrete through the stadium and field areas.
Pictures of some of this work are below.
This photo shows the existing ramp into the stadium being repaired. The steel façade has
been removed exposing the hollow area underneath. The contractor is placing forms onto
this ramp to pour a concrete patch. Once the concrete is complete, the steel façade will be
reinstalled and appear brand new.
This concrete slab was recently poured. The conduit in the background will provide the
capacity to install electric to the ticket booth at this entrance.
A new ramp had been poured which will provide ADA access from the field into the Fitness
Center. This ramp connects the existing ramping to this entrance.
After the ramp was poured, a new sidewalk behind the Home sideline was poured. This will
allow student and staff access along the rear of the building plus provide the boundary for
the new turf.
The steps that are behind the Home sideline were in poor shape. This photo shows the
worst areas being removed so that new concrete patches can be put in place.
This photo shows the repairs to the concrete steps almost complete. Once all the repairs are
made, the entire surface will receive a new concrete overlay making this area appear 100%
new.
The bases for the new goal posts were poured. As work continues, the new goal posts will be
installed atop these bases.
A new patio and steps were poured outside the Family and Consumer Science classroom on
the Lower Level at HHS.
The curb for the North End zone has been poured. The space to the left of this curb will be
asphalt while the space to the right will be the new synthetic turf.
This photo was taken from the Outdoor Dining Balcony at HHS. The asphalt in the North
End Zone is complete as is a portion of the new fencing the separates the spectators from
the playing field.
New sidewalks have been installed along the entire length of the stadium.
A new concrete plaza has been poured in the North End Zone. This is the area where the
small Lions Club concession stand will be placed.
