1 SnagIt9 Capture There are numerous capture options available in SnagIt 9. This document covers those capture options that are most frequently used. Region Open SnagIt 9 and click to select the Region capture option. Hit the [Print Screen] button on your keyboard (or press the record button in the SnagIt interface), then use your mouse to select the area you wish to capture. Window Open SnagIt 9 and click to select the Window capture option. Hit the [Print Screen] button on your keyboard, then click on the window you wish to capture. FullScreen Open SnagIt 9 and click to select the Full Screen capture option. Hit the [Print Screen] button on your keyboard, and SnagIt will automatically capture everything visible on your desktop. ScrollingWindow(WebPage) Open SnagIt 9 and click to select the Scrolling Window (Web Page) capture option. Hit the [Print Screen] button on your keyboard, then click on the content in the web browser you wish to capture. Please Note: SnagIt 9 currently supports captures from IE and Firefox. MenuwithTimeDelay Open SnagIt 9 and click to select the Menu with Time Delay capture option. Hit the [Print Screen] button n your keyboard, and you will then see an 8‐second countdown, during which time you can pull up any dropdown menu in any software. Once the countdown finishes, SnagIt will then capture the displayed menu. Copyright ©2009, The University of Texas at Dallas 2 Edit Below is the SnagIt Editor interface. Once you’ve done your capture, you will then see the Editor screen. Toolbar Tool Attributes Output Copy All Recently captured content CopyAll Copy everything on the canvas and put it on the Clipboard. Send Export the capture to other software programs such as Microsoft Word or Excel, FTP servers, or email clients. SelectionTool Click and drag on the canvas to select an area to move, copy, or cut. Selection Tool Options CalloutTool Add ready‐made shapes containing text such as arrows, rectangles, and speech bubbles to visually communicate information. Callout Tool Options ArrowTool Add ready‐made arrows to point out important information. Arrow Tool Options StampTool Insert a small graphic to add emphasis or importance. Customize fill, width, and shape effects. Pen Tool Options HighlightAreaTool Highlight a rectangular region on the canvas. Highlight Tool Options ZoomIn/OutTool Click on the canvas to magnify. TextTool Add a plain text Callout on the canvas. Text Tool Options LineTool Draw a line on the capture. Shape Tool Options FillTool Fill an enclosed area using any color. Fill Tool Options EraseTool Erase any flattened capture or object exposing the canvas color underneath. Erase Tool Options Copyright ©2009, The University of Texas at Dallas 6 ImageTools To access the Image Tools in SnagIt Editor, click the Image tab in the menu bar. CropTool Remove the unwanted area of a capture. CutOutTool Remove a horizontal or vertical selection of the canvas and join the remaining two pieces together. TrimTool Automatically cut all unchanging solid color from the edges of a capture. RotatetheCanvasTool Rotate the canvas left or right or flip the canvas horizontally or vertically. ResizeTool Change the image or canvas size. CanvasColor Choose a color for the background of a capture. Also used to set color for Transparent Background effect. ImageStyles Customize the border, effects, and edging of the capture. Copyright ©2009, The University of Texas at Dallas 7 BlurTool Blur a portion of the canvas or any flattened objects. GrayscaleTool Change the entire contents of the canvas to shades of black, white, and gray. WatermarkTool Insert a ghosted or color image, such as a logo or proprietary mark, behind or on top of the canvas. ColorEffectsTool Add or change color effects for a selection or the entire canvas. FiltersTool Filters applied to a slection or the entire canvas can subtly or dramatically alter the look of the capture. Spotlight&MagnifyTool Magnify a selected area of the canvas.
