This January, Kingsmill Resort will laugh off the cold by staying cozy with its second annual comedy weekend, Jan. 27-29, featuring some of the nation’s funniest comics. Watch a clip from last years show here. The comedy shows will run Friday and Saturday from 8 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. with reserved table seating, a full bar and limited food menu. Guests may purchase tickets by taking advantage of Kingsmill’s Comedy Weekend Package, which features two-night accommodations in a resort guest room, tickets for both nights to the comedy show, full breakfast at Elements 1010, and of course access to all of Kingsmill’s amenities, including its heated indoor pool. To purchase tickets separately, an overnight stay is required. The master of ceremonies for this year’s festival year will be the talented Sid Davis, the self-dubbed “Ohio farm boy turned airline mechanic turned comic,” who made his debut on the nationally syndicated Bob and Tom Radio Show. Comedy legend Joan Rivers, looking for an opening act, viewed Sid’s debut and told her manager, “He’s terrific! I want him!” The laugh line-up includes: Tony Deyo: A rising young talent, Deyo is known for his sharp, quick material and near perfect timing almost certainly gained from his years as a professional symphony musician. He has also appeared on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, AXS TV’s Gotham Comedy Live, and Comics Unleashed with Byron Allen. Watch a Clip of Tony. Julie Scoggins: She’s a 6’2” southern ex-trucker, cab driver, baseball mascot, pooper-scooper and charm school graduate. A renaissance woman, indeed, she has shared the stage with such talents as: Jackie Mason, Michael Winslow, Bob Goldthwait, and Louie Anderson. Watch a Clip of Julie. Pete Lee: Pete mixes cutting punch lines with an underdog perspective to absolutely roast himself on stage. Recently, he was selected as a semi-finalist on NBC’s Last Comic Standing and filmed his own Comedy Central Presents special. Watch a Clip of Pete. Louis Ramey: With appearances on The Tonight Show, and The View, Louis has now set his sights on the globe. He just finished a 40-country world tour that took him to Mumbai, Hong Kong, London, Dubai and Johannesburg. A favorite at comedy festivals worldwide, Louis recently won the 2014 Gilda’s LaughFest Audience Favorite Clean Comedy Award. Watch a Clip of Louis. Rocky LaPorte: A former truck driver and dockworker from the south side of Chicago, Rocky LaPorte has been doing stand-up comedy for the past 26 years. LaPorte has appeared on NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Showtime’s Godfathers of Comedy, A&E’s Evening at the Improv, VH1’s Stand-Up Spotlight and Just for Laughs on TBS. His television credits include Cheers, The Pat Sajak Show and The Magic Hour. Kingsmill Resort Comedy Weekend packages start at $99 per person based on double occupancy.
