Catalyst Community Festivals

Catalyst Community Festivals:
Free Community Events in Your Park!
Meet and Experience the Catalyst
Program in Your Neighborhood!
Overview
Catalyst is a program of which works in the community to make the park an interactive place
for the community. The program is a signature effort of Partnerships for Parks, a joint program
of City Parks Foundation and NYC Parks. The Catalyst Program combines the community
engagement and capacity building tools of Partnerships for Parks, the programming of City
Parks Foundation, and capital investments by NYC Parks to revitalize neighborhood parks.
Catalyst has been successful in revitalizing parks and catalyzing park leadership in more than
13 park communities since its inception in 1997. Catalyst works with local partners together to
achieve long-term change in historically under-served parks while strengthening communities’
political and social capital through intensive capacity-building, leadership development, and
community visioning.
Catalyst Community Festivals
The Catalyst Community Festival will be a fun day for the community to find out about the
different ways residents and organizations can “be the Catalyst” of change in their own
community. There will be information about arts & crafts, puppet shows, planting projects
interactive games, sports and learning activities, community resources, and interesting videos
and workshops.
Programs represented will include Partnerships for Parks programs in Outreach, Technical
Assistance, Volunteer Program, and Catalyst as well as the City Parks Foundation Programs of
Arts, Sports, and Education, and NYC Parks special programs.
