Dear All
Welcome back, I hope you have all enjoyed the Easter break and only 5 weeks until the next and such a lot to do!!
I have been the Head teacher at Gorse Hall Primary and Nursery school for 4 years and have seen the school go from
strength to strength in that time. It was 18 months ago that we were inspected under the new Government
Inspection Framework. The new framework is designed to hold schools to account, raise standards and improve
outcomes for children. Schools are judged under 4 key areas: Quality of Teaching, Pupils Attainment and Progress,
Behaviour and Safety and Leadership. At that time we were judged to require improvement and were told we would
have 2 years before we would be inspected again. However due to the hard work, commitment and dedication from all
involved in the school we were ready for inspection sooner and the inspection team, led by HMI, arrived on 27th
March following a phone call the previous day.
I am very pleased to inform you that Gorse Hall Primary and Nursery school was judged to be “GOOD” in all areas. I
would like to take this opportunity to thank all the Staff and Children without whom Gorse Hall would not be the
wonderful school it is. I would also like to thank you too, not only for taking the time to go on line and complete the
Parent View Questionnaire but for all the kind things you said to the Inspection team on the morning of the second
day of the inspection. They were very impressed with all the positive and supportive comments as well as the
confidence you have both in the school and in myself as the Head teacher of this fabulous school.
The report highlights the many areas which are strengths of the school including the good teaching and the children’s
good behaviour which allows them to make good progress under the good leadership of the leadership team,
Governors, Miss Flood as Deputy and myself. It also identifies the areas we need to develop even further in order to
make our school “OUTSTANDING”. You can see that this is where I need help from you in order to ensure that we
are improving communication with you in the way you find most accessible. During the summer term the Governors
will be contacting you to find out what and how you feel as a school we can improve further in this area and our newly
appointed Learning Mentor, Mrs Winterbottom, will be working closely with the PTA too.
I am extremely proud of our achievements at Gorse Hall Primary and Nursery School and feel confident that we will
continue to be a good school. `Working together the possibilities are endless ……’.
Yours truly
Amanda Stringer
