Overview
Live like the Tudors at this true Medieval Manor in Wales - you’ll return from
holiday with royal bragging rights, as it was once owned by Henry VIII. Ancient
nooks and crannies are everywhere - your guests will love exploring the spiral
staircases, touching the same stone walls as kings. Heavy oak doors,
tapestries, carved antique bedframes, and even a suit of armour populate the
rooms, recalling times long past.
Though it may seem like a cold stone castle, modern amenities will make the
historical accuracy of this holiday manor easier to bear! There’s heating (of
course), and an entertainment system for the kids. The kitchen is up to the
challenge to prepare a modern-day feast, with large granite workspaces and
an electric range. If the weather’s right, outside in the garden there’s space to
hold a barbecue and for the kids to play.
England and Wales are both at your fingertips from this locale, near the village
of Caldicot on the River Severn. There's a 55 acre park and Norman Castle
within easy walking distance of the manor. A 20 minute drive will bring you to
Bristol, or 35 minutes to the ancient spa city of Bath.

Interior & Grounds
The exquisite period kitchen comes with granite work tops and an easy to use
electric range cooker. Modern appliances include the American fridge-freezer
with ice maker and dishwasher. There is a further refrigerator, microwave,
blender, toaster, kettle and automatic coffee maker. A welcome package is
provided for all our guests which includes coffee, tea, and biscuits.
You will find plenty of entertainment at the manor, the cosy relaxing living
room has a flat screen TV with Sky+ and DVD player. Wifi is available
throughout the manor. A great selection of DVD's books and board games are
also provided. There is a seperate lounge for the children to enjoy with a TV,
DVD player and playstation. All rooms have at least one thermostatically
controlled radiator to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
The manor comfortably sleeps 16 adults in its 7 bedrooms. The bedrooms
comprise of two large master bedrooms located in the 15th century wing of the
manor. These were originally dormitory rooms for the monks of Llanthony.
They have a king size four poster medieval carved bed as well as en-suite
facilities.
The third bedroom also has a king size bed which is on a hand carved frame,
there is also a single bed in this room. The fourth bedroom is a twin room with
basin and mirror. Also on this level there is a large bathroom with claw and
foot bath and separate shower.
The fifth bedroom is a double room located off the great hall. The sixth
bedroom is a ground floor twin room. The seventh bedroom, also on the
ground floor, is a triple room. The manor has two bathrooms both with
separate shower and claw and foot baths. There is also a w/c located off the
ground floor foyer.
All our towels are of the highest quality and we only use designer Dorma
sheets and covers on all our beds.
The gardens surround the manor on three sides with a high stone wall to the
rear and enclosing the side gardens. Enjoy a barbeque in the large garden
with ample seating provided. Our guests will delight in the private medieval
garden where they can practice the art of courtly love. There is also a
children's play area with a large play house.

Location & Local Information
The Manor is located on the southern tip of the Wye-Valley, which is an area
known for its outstanding natural beauty. The house is located 10 minutes
from the M4 and 15 minutes from the M5 motorways. The manor is the perfect
location for both outdoor sports and tourism.
Located only 20 minutes from Bristol, 30 minutes from Cardiff and 35 minutes
from the ancient Roman city of Bath, guests could not be better located for
touring both England and Wales. The Manor is situated in the quiet village of
Caldicot, 100 yards from the Norman castle and its 55 acre country park.
The house stands in its own private gardens near to the medieval church of St.
Mary's which was also built by the monks of Llanthony in the 12th century.
