Teacher Site Request/Approval Instructions Please carefully read and complete the following request for a Teacher Web Page/Google Site. You must be a certified instructor with a core educational instructional position with the School District of Osceola to post a publicly accessible Teacher Web Page/Google site, (aka as Teacher Sites, which refers to Google Sites and/or a Schoolworld Teacher Web Page). Turn in this completed and signed request to your building principal for approval. Once you have created your site, received your building principal’s final approval, and are ready for student/parent access, please enter a HelpDesk and request a link from the district’s website to your teacher site. The staff directory will then be updated and a link will be activated and connected from your name in the directory to your teacher site. Teacher Web Page Requirements 1) All information on Teacher Sites must be updated and/or verified every 30 days or less. 2) Teacher Sites will adhere to the Osceola School District’s Responsible Use & Internet Safety Policy. 3) The certified instructor is responsible for all linked content on their site. a. Linked content will be carefully chosen and reviewed for educational content, appropriateness, and evaluated for compliance with the RUP prior to and for the duration of the posting. b. Linked content will be verified every 30 days (or less) to eliminate broken links and assure linked content remains appropriate. c. Links to wikis or blogs are allowed but must be continually reviewed and immediately removed if offensive or in violation of the district’s RUP. 4) Teacher Sites are not a venue for political statements and will be used for educational purposes only. 5) Teacher Sites will have classroom content as the primary reason and focus for the site. 6) Coaching/clubs/activities are allowed only as a sub-site accessed via a link from the teacher’s main web page. a. Time and effort on site updates and improvements for sub-sites will not exceed updates and improvements to core education pages. 7) Photos and/or student works are allowed on Teacher sites only after verification of parent/guardian approval (Excel file is located on X:\DistrictPhotos). 8) Podcasts of and by students are allowed on Teacher Web Pages only after verification of parent/guardian approval (Excel file is located on X:\DistrictPhotos). No student last names or initials are allowed. 9) Files can be posted (uploaded) provided they follow the same guidelines for Teacher sites (parent/guardian approval for any included student images/photos/works, no last names or initials included in the file content). 10) Posted files should have a large file notification posted for files larger than 100KB informing users of the file size. 11) District forms should not be posted on Teacher sites, however links to district forms located on the district’s web page are allowed. 12) Schoolworld and Google Sites associated with a district account are the only chosen vendors for the district’s Teacher sites, no other vendors are approved. 13) Guardian permission to post student photos and/or works extends only to district-paid SchoolWorld Teacher Web Pages or Google sites through an osceolak12.org account. No other vendors or teacher pages/sites are included or implied in this permission. 14) District-paid SchoolWorld Teacher Web Pages or Google sites through a osceolak12.org account are an extension of the district’s website, and all official district website restrictions apply I, ______________________, request a Teacher Site.
