MRS JUDITH CARR, CHAIR
MR GAVIN LEYDON
Judith is an architect and Executive Director within the
Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure.
Judith has extensive experience in public administration,
building construction project and contract management
and building asset and property management. She is
currently Project Director for the $1.85 billion new Royal
Adelaide Hospital Project and Chair of the State
Procurement Board.
Gavin is an environmental lawyer in private practice with
extensive experience in the area of development and
planning. He brings to the Council an understanding of the
policy interface between heritage and urban and regional
planning. Gavin is also an executive member of the SA
division of the Planning Institute of Australia and the
Presiding Member of the Local Heritage Advisory
Committee, which provides advice to the Planning Minister
on heritage related matters.
MRS CAROLYN WIGG, DEPUTY CHAIR
Carolyn is an Architect with extensive experience in
architecture, heritage conservation and urban and regional
development. She is a member of the Development
Assessment Commission and the Local Heritage Advisory
Committee. Carolyn is a Councillor for the Town of
Walkerville and on the State Executive Committee of the
Local Government Association, a past President of the SA
Chapter of the Australian Institute of Architects and was
formerly a part time lecturer in the School of Architecture,
Landscape Architecture and Urban Design, University of
Adelaide. In 2010, Carolyn was awarded a UniSA
Fellowship to research 'Sustainability and Adaptive Reuse
of Heritage Buildings'.
MR ROBERT DONALDSON, LOCAL
GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION
NOMINEE
Rob is the Chief Executive Officer of the City of Port
Lincoln, having held other local government CEO and
senior management roles in South Australia and New
South Wales for over 20 years. With a background in urban
and strategic planning and public administration, including
development assessment, planning policy and heritage
initiatives, Rob contributes to the Council's governance,
policy, planning and strategic advice capabilities.
MR JASON SCHULZ
Jason is a registered architect with over 20 years’
experience in the conservation, policy development, and
adaptive reuse of heritage places. As a Director of DASH
Architects, Jason brings to the Council extensive expertise
in the boarder issues associated with heritage in our built
environment. He regularly provides expert witnessing
services to the Environment, Resources and Development
(ERD) Court and is also a member of the Department of
Planning, Transport and Infrastructure’s Local Heritage
Advisory Committee. Jason is also a member of the Capital
City Design Review Panel (ODASA).
PROFESSOR ALISON MACKINNON AM
Alison has over 35 years’ experience as an historian of
Australian and South Australian history, educational history
and women's history. She was the Foundation Director of
the Hawke Research Institute from 1997 to 2006. She has
been recognized for research, scholarship and leadership in
SA by inclusion on the South Australian Women's Honour
Roll (2008), and nationally by election as a Fellow of The
Academy of Social Sciences in Australia (2005). Alison was
awarded an Order of Australia, AM, in 2009, for
contributions to history and to the community through
leadership of History organizations. Alison was the
President of the History Council of SA from 2004-2008.
MS SARA BEAZLEY
Sara has an environmental planning and legal background.
Sara has previously worked for the Crown Solicitors Office,
with a particular focus on environmental law. Sara has
experience in providing advice in relation to environment,
land, property, mining and natural resource management
laws.
MRS DEBORAH LINDSAY
Deborah is a heritage consultant and historical
archaeologist with over ten years’ experience working in
NSW and SA, particularly in heritage assessment, heritage
listing and development approvals. Deborah is a member
of the Local Heritage Advisory Committee to the Minister
for Planning and former member of the Australia ICOMOS
Executive Committee (2013-2016), the key professional
body for cultural heritage practitioners.
MR GEORGE HOBBS
George is a Petroleum Engineer running an international
consulting business specialising in Production Chemistry
(European Registered and Chartered Chemist) and
Corrosion (USA NACE Accredited Corrosion and Chemical
Treatment Specialist). Previously managing director for an
Exxon JV. Has worked in cement research with Blue Circle in
UK. Involved in restoration of heritage properties in UK and
Australia. National Trust of SA councillor and on their
Cultural Heritage Advisory Committee. George provides
advice on materials, paints and industrial engineering to
the National Trust. He is on the local committee of the
Australasian Corrosion Association and represents The
Georgian Group (London based trust for preservation of
Georgian architecture) in Australasia. A member of
National Trust for Scotland where George has a heritage
property and a member of Heritage New Zealand.
MS ALI BEN KAHN, ACTING MEMBER
Ali has qualifications in Environmental Science and has
studied archaeology and palaeontology. Ali has experience
in environmental management and planning and has
worked on National Trust projects. Ali has been a member
of several government boards and committees dealing with
biodiversity conservation and the environmental impacts of
planning and development.
