ITINERARY
May 17: Kathmandu (4,593ft/1,400m).
We pick you up at the airport. Arrive in Kathmandu and check
into our OneSeed partner lodge in the heart of the ancient city
of Patan. Catch up on some much-needed sleep and venture
out for some dinner on your own.
Inclusions: Private airport transfers; accommodations
May 18: Kathmandu (4,593ft/1,400m).
Spend the day exploring the Kathmandu Valley. Shake the
jetlag with a visit to Swayambhunath, the “Monkey Temple”.
Take in the views of the city from atop one of the most
important Buddhist stupas in Nepal. Return around 1pm to
spend the afternoon exploring the city on your own. In the
evening, join your fellow travelers for a welcome dinner
banquet.

May 19: Kathmandu to Phakding (8,563ft/2,610m).
Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla. The flight takes about half an
hour. From Lukla walk to the village of Phakding. This section
will be around 3-4 hours long. On the way pass by yaks as you
trace the banks of the Dudh-Koshi River. Upon arrival in
Phakding, get your first taste of Himalayan life.
Total distance: 4.3 miles. Approximately 3-4 hours trekking

May 20: Phakding to Namche Bazaar
(11,286ft/3,440m).
This difficult trek takes around 5-6 hours, but you’ll struggle
through it knowing you have a rest day in Namche. Arguably
the hardest day of the expedition, you’ll be exhausted by the
time you reach the village of Namche.
Total distance: 7.5 miles. Approximately 5-6 hours trekking

May 21: Namche Bazaar (11,286ft/3,440m).
Spend a day in Namche for altitude acclimatization and rest
before the next ascent. Spend your day hiking to Everest View
Point, an optional 2 hour hike with rewarding views.

May 22: Namche to Tengboche (12,687ft/3,867m).
This segment includes the famous descent to the Dudh-Koshi
River and the equally famous ascent along the rhododendron
forests to Tengboche. Soak in views of Everest and Ama
Dablam. Upon arrival in Tengboche, visit the local monastery
and have a much deserved cup of tea.
Total distance: 6 miles. Approximately 4 hours trekking

May 23: Tengboche to Dengboche (14,862/4,530m).
Descend into Dengboche for about four hours as you take in
the mountain views along the trail.
Total distance: 6 miles. Approximately 4 hours trekking

May 24: Dengboche (14,862ft/4,530m).
Rest day in Dengboche. Spend the day hiking around nearby
villages or resting on the teahouse terrace with Ama Dablam
soaring directly overhead.

May 25: Dengboche to Lobuche (16,207/4,940m).
A summer village nestled high in the Himalaya, Lobuche has
become a major trekking stop along the trail to base camp.
Total distance: 4 miles. Approximately 5 hours trekking

May 26: Lobuche to Gorak Shep (16,942ft/5,164m).
This trek lasts about four hours. Follow the trail along the
western side of the Khumbu Valley and the views of Mount
Pumori — “Everest’s daughter” — will accompany you. After a
brief descent, reach Gorak Shep.
Total distance: 5 miles. Approximately 4 hours trekking

May 27: Gorak Shep to Everest Base Camp
(17,598ft/5,364m)​.
This final stretch of the trek is an arduous four hours. Walk
along the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier to reach base
camp. Your destination is a flat field between Kala Pattar and
Mount Pumori. You’ve arrived.
Total distance: 2 miles. Approximately 2-3 hours trekking
Full Marathoners: Gorak Shep to Everest Base Camp.
Total distance: 2 miles. Approximately 2-3 hours
Half Marathoners: Gorak Shep to Everest Base Camp to
Dengboche. Total distance: 11 miles. Approximately 11-12
hours trekking
Non-Runners: Gorak Shep to Base Camp back to Gorak
Shep
Total distance: 4 miles. Approximately 4 hours trekking

May 28: Everest Base Camp (17,598ft/5,364m).
Rest day at Everest Base Camp. Spend the day resting up,
getting acclimated, and prepping for the big race.

Half Marathoners: Rest day in Dengboche
Non-Runners: Gorak Shep to Pheriche
Total distance: 6 miles. Approximately 5-7 hours trekking

May 29: Everest Base Camp to Namche

Race day is here! The 2017 Tenzing Hillary Everest Marathon
to Namche begins
Full Marathoners: Marathon to Namche
Total distance: 26 miles. Timing depends of runner
Half Marathoners: ½ Marathon to Namche
Total distance: 13 miles. Timing depends on runner
Non-Runners: Pheriche to Namche
Total distance: 12 miles. Approximately 8-10 hours trekking

May 30: Namche Bazaar (11,286ft/3,440m).
Rest Day in Namche. Rest your legs from the race. Relax and
take in the beauty of Namche.

May 31: Namche Bazaar to Phakding
(8,563ft/2,610m).
Continue your descent back to Phakding.
Total distance: 7.5 miles. Approximately 5-6 hours trekking

June 1: Phakding to Lukla (9,383ft/2,860m).
Take this three hour hike at a leisurely pace while marveling at
the scenery around you.
Total distance: 4.3 miles. Approximately 3 hours trekking

June 2: Lukla to Kathmandu (4,593ft/884m).
Grab a predawn breakfast before hopping on an early morning
flight back to Kathmandu. Head back to the capital city and a
warm shower.

transfers, flight from Lukla to Kathmandu; accommodations
June 3: Kathmandu (4,593ft/884m).
Spend one last day exploring Kathmandu before joining your
fellow runners for a farewell dinner. Celebrate the adventure
and accomplishment with food and plenty of beer.
