Guidelines for Weather and Climate Gameshow Menu You must choose at least one activity from each topic area (6 topics). Your teacher will sign off on each one as you turn in your assignments. You may not do more than two activities in any one topic area for credit. Grading will be ongoing, so turn in products as you complete them...Don’t hold them until the last day! All free choice proposals must be turned in and approved BEFORE you begin working on that free choice. No more than 2 PowerPoints or Videos per menu. Don’t forget: All evidence of content mastery must come from the science evidence folder. You must earn a total of 120 points for 100%. You may earn extra credit up to 10 points. Weather Maps Clouds What does a meteorologist do? What does a person have to do to become a meteorologist? Research to find out! Use the information you receive to create an advertisement for a local college to promote becoming a meteorologist. (15 pts) Write a paragraph, IN YOUR OWN WORDS, to describe what causes weather changes, and how clouds form. Draw a picture to support your paragraph. (15 pts) Create a flipbook that describes each layer of the atmosphere. Be sure to add a colored picture on each page of the book. (15 pts) Create e foldable that tells what land and sea breezes are and how they affect the weather. (10 pts) Complete Global Winds graphic organizer. Must be colored and filled in completely and accurately. (10 pts) Complete weather map QC code activity (see Handout) (25pts) Create a cloud brochure that details the type of clouds and what type of weather they are associated with. Be sure to add at least 5 pictures (25 pts) Venus is considered to be Earth’s sister planet. Research the atmosphere of both planets and create a Venn Diagram to compare Earth and Venus. (20 pts) Write a children’s book to describe what land and sea breezes are and how they affect the weather. (25 pts) Create a global winds poster (see handout and rubric) (20 pts) Become the weather forecaster of the day! Complete the weather map project and video your forecast. Videos will be shown in class. Email all video to your teacher when completed. Replicate the cloud in a bottle experiment. Use the Mini-Science Fair PPT template to show how you completed each step. Be sure to include pictures and a data table. You are the new image consultant for the superhero, “Mr. Troposphere”. He has this name because his superpowers greatly resemble the characteristics of the troposphere. Create a comic strip about his latest adventures. Replicate the land breeze/sea breeze experiment. Use the Mini-Science Fair PPT template to show how you completed each step. Be sure to include pictures and a data table. Create a 3Dimentional Map that will display all of the types of global winds and where they are located. Write a description of each type of wind and how it affects the weather. Your school is thinking of purchasing a weather station to better predict severe weather. They have been given a budget of $5000.
