Weather and Climate Gameshow Menu
S6E4. Students will understand how the distribution of land and oceans affects climate and weather.
a. Demonstrate that land and water absorb and lose heat at different rates and explain the resulting effects on weather
patterns.
b. Relate unequal heating of land and water surfaces to form large global wind systems and weather events such as tornados
and thunderstorms.
c. Relate how moisture evaporating from the oceans affects the weather patterns and weather events such as hurricanes.
S6E6. Students will describe various sources of energy and with their uses and conservation.
a. Explain the role of the sun as the major source of energy and its relationship to wind and water energy.
Guidelines for Weather and Climate Gameshow Menu
 You must choose at least one activity from each topic area (6 topics). Your teacher will sign off
on each one as you turn in your assignments.
 You may not do more than two activities in any one topic area for credit.
 Grading will be ongoing, so turn in products as you complete them...Don’t hold them until the last

how clouds form. Draw
a picture to support your

and sea breezes are
and how they affect
the weather. (10 pts)

brochure that details the
type of clouds and what
type of weather they are
associated with. Be sure
to add at least 5 pictures

 Become the weather
forecaster of the day!
Complete the weather map
project and video your
forecast. Videos will be shown
in class. Email all video to your
teacher when completed.
 Replicate the cloud in
a bottle experiment. Use
the Mini-Science Fair PPT
template to show how
you completed each
step. Be sure to include
pictures and a data
table.
 You are the new image
consultant for the
superhero, “Mr.
Troposphere”. He has this
name because his
superpowers greatly
resemble the characteristics
of the troposphere. Create
a comic strip about his
latest adventures.
 Replicate the land
breeze/sea breeze
experiment. Use the
Mini-Science Fair PPT
template to show
how you completed
each step. Be sure to
include pictures and
a data table.
 Create a 3Dimentional Map that
will display all of the
types of global winds
and where they are
located. Write a
description of each
type of wind and how
it affects the weather.
 Your school is thinking

station to better predict
severe weather. They
have been given a
budget of $5000.
Research the different
options that are

brochure for the weather
station you feel is the
best choice to assist in
