Big challenges - New ways to organize operations • Focus on small and medium size companies • Shift focus from singe companies to value chains and networks • Consider the joint impact of different networks in a certain place • Create new kind of leadership based on cooperation within networks • NEW ROLE FOR LOCAL PUBLIC ORGANIZATION 4. Example case – Sodankylä Innovation Center • Demand for new arctic innovations – Lots of arctic knowledge located in Sodankylä – There is growing need for arctic knowledge applications e.g. see ice forecasting, water content of snow coverage etc. – There is need for new methods for exploring minerals without drilling – There is need for specialized forecasting of winter conditions for streets and transportation 4.
