Primary Colors 760 State Road 46 West Batesville, IN 47006 (812) 934-4509 www.batesville.k12.in.us/bps September 2012 Dismissal Reminders for Car Pick-up/Drop Off • • • • • • • • • Remain in the line of cars until you are along the sidewalk area. Please pull your car up as far as you can so we can get as many cars as possible along the curb. Keep moving forward as cars leave and create space. Please stay in your car. We will then send your child to your car when it is stopped along the sidewalk. We ask that you do not park in the lot and walk over to get your child. We are concerned about the safety of students/parents walking across the drive in front of cars that are leaving. Please review these procedures with your child. Please advise others who might be picking up your child at dismissal (i.e., grandparents, aunts, etc.) of our pick-up procedure. If you still help your child buckle their seatbelt or car seat, we encourage you to have your child practice this skill so they can begin to buckle on their own. Thanks for your cooperation on this as it provides safety and order in our dismissal process. BCSC is now offering Latchkey A Latchkey program is now being offered at Batesville Primary School for students in grades K-6. The program runs from 3:006:00pm every day school is in session. BPS Prepares for Flu Season As you may know, flu can be spread easily from person to person. Therefore, BPS is taking extra steps to reduce the spread of flu. We want to keep school open to students and functioning in a normal manner during this flu season. Starting in the month of September our school nurses will be doing hand-washing presentations in the classroom. All first and second graders will be using the black light in order to assure good hand washing techniques. (The black light shows students places that they missed on their hands during washing.) In addition to having our students wash their hands often with soap and water, automatic hand sanitizers are mounted in each classroom. All teachers have sanitizing wipes in their classrooms to wipe surface areas when necessary. If you have any other questions or concerns, you may call the school nurse or Mrs. Burton. THANK YOU, PTO!!! The staff at BPS would like to thank our PTO for the delicious and nutritious luncheon they provided for us on Monday, August 6. You are always so good to take care of us and we appreciate it! Thank you to Lisa McKittrick and Marti Tracy for organizing the luncheon and thank you to everyone who sent in those delicious desserts! You started our school year off right! A Note from the Nurse… Head checks were completed at the beginning of the school year. We are off to a good start! Please continue to remind your student not to share combs, hats and hair accessories.
