Life is a ball – game, a ballgame. Life is a game… What’s the score? ---Mitzi G Watson ************************************ My body doesn’t match my spirit. Some may call me call me two-spirited. Desire and yearning for what others had birth rights to. It’s disgusting. It’s perverse. It feels wrong. Brain in chaos from receiving the wrong chemicals. Funny how something unnatural as medication can bring my well-being back to its desired natural state. I’ve gone through puberty twice. I get to choose when to go through menopause. I don’t bleed during my period. I can’t have children. ($30,000 is a lot to pay to fix a birth defect.) My god doesn’t conform to norms. But none of that changes who I am as a person. I’m not changing who I am, quite the opposite! I am transitioning into being the girl on the outside that matches the girl on the inside. What’s between my legs does not define who I am. Rather it’s what’s between my ears. Very simply: I’m a girl. That’s it. ۞۞۞۞۞۞۞۞۞۞۞۞۞۞۞۞ NAMI/PBC Adolescents Support Groups Begins Wednesday, June 12, 2013 Ages 15-17 Ages 12-14 3:30pm to 4:30pm 5:30pm to 6:30pm 50 So. US Hwy 1 1520 10th Avenue N Ste 309 Ste D Jupiter, FL 33477 Lake Worth, FL 33460 Practice Positive Reactions to Everyday Stresses *Walk away instead of reacting in anger. It’s ok to stomp your feet if you need to! *Exercise. This helps get rid of the physical energy that is built up by anger. *Talk to someone who you are not feeling angry with. Phone a friend, relative, or professional. *Distract yourself. Do something you enjoy like reading, TV, music, to take your mind off the anger. *Count 10 breaths. It will calm you and prevent you from reacting automatically. *Write about it. Get your feelings and thoughts out on paper instead of confronting the person. *Deal with it when you feel calm. Get away from the situation and come back later. The more practice you get at reacting in positive ways, waiting until the anger goes down a little before responding, and learning new habits, the more easily you will be able to manage anger.
