APUSH 2016/2017 Summer Assignment Mrs. Jamie Miller 1. Email me as soon as you receive this summer assignment ([email protected]). 2. Complete the attached vocabulary (I will refer to these throughout the semester/year as identifications). We will eventually complete all of them, but to start you need to complete 1607 to the end of 1775. They need to be handwritten on index cards (construction paper/notebook paper are also acceptable, but should be cut into index card size). The term should go on one side and the definition on the other. We will visit and re-visit these terms throughout the semester/year to prepare for the APUSH exam in May but also to keep our memories refreshed. Use Google or dictionary.com for the definitions. Avoid long sentences or superfluous information- you need facts and pertinent information only. If you need an example, quizlet.com has many or email me. 3. Choose a book from the list and read it. For each chapter, take an index card and make a summary of important information and facts that help you remember the material. You will keep these index cards with your vocabulary. We will also use these cards to share information. I will give each of you a brief test over the book you have chosen during the first week of class. 4. All of your materials are due the first day of school- no exceptions. I do not take work after due dates. If you will not be here on the first day of school, assignments can be turned in early into the office the week before school starts. 5. To be successful on the AP exam, I encourage you to purchase 5 Steps to a 5. Please make sure you purchase one from the 2015 edition as the test has changed since 2014. On Amazon.com they are listed for $13.24. If you have any questions, please email me. Have a great summer!
