PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE:
2013 Board Members
Teri Roberts, President
Linda Zebrowski, VP
Jo Anderson, Secretary
Flo Bradbury, Treasurer
2014 Board Members
Carol Hemmingsen,
President
Pauline Mallory, VP
This is my last newsletter article as President of the PQs. I’m happy
(very) and sad at the same time. I had a lot of fun and challenges
being President for two years. There were a couple times that were
very frustrating, but you ladies came to the rescue. As they say “No
pain, no gain”.
I especially want to thank Linda Zebrowski, Flo Bradbury, and Jo
Anderson who served as VP, Treasurer, and Secretary respectively in
2013. I also want to thank the following members who served as
committee chairmen in 2013 - Sharon Kalinowski and Carol
Hemmingsen (Program co-chairs), Renita Sullivan (Community
Outreach), Theresa Arrison (Retreat), Robin VanScoy, (Membership),
Cathy Starman (Mystery), Heather Harteneck (Block of the Month),
Lynda Weingart and Pauline Mallory (Secret Pal co-chairs), Robin
VanScoy and Penny Black (Brown Bag Challenge co-chairs), Suzanne
Moynet (Sunshine), Roni Hunt (Newsletter), and Lori Lewis (Web
Master). The hard work of these members and the members that
served on their committees was very much appreciated.
The guild is going into a New Year with the challenge of co hosting a
Quilt Show in 2015. I hope of that all of you will get involved with the
Quilt Show, the committees and other activities sponsored by the
guild. There is going to be lots of work and the more hands to do the
work the easier it is for everyone. Don’t forget there is always lots of
fun and laughs when we get together.
Jo Anderson, Secretary
Wishing everyone the blessings of this season,
Flo Bradbury, Treasurer

Secret Pals - Remember that we will be revealing our secret pals at the
December meeting. This includes anything that
will be needed to assemble the quilt top (borders,
sashings, adornments, etc). Just a reminder to this
year's secret pals: bring the final fabric for sashings
and borders along with the finishing instructions for
the quilt assembly to your secret pal. Also, bring the
blocks you were given so we can display them so
everyone can join in on the fun.

It’s been customary to present a small thank you gift to the person who has been
giving to you. Many people make this item, but it does not need to be handmade. It's
always a fun time.
We will be signing up again for secret pals at the December meeting.
Sharon Kalinowski Program chair, is seeking members for
the program committee. If you can serve on the committee,
please contact Sharon at 7272-254-4286. The survey
results and ideas presented by the members have given us a
good starting point, now I need assistance in making it
happen.

A wonderful recipe from our President!! !
I brought a Curry Vegetable Dip to the shop yesterday and several ladies asked me to put the
recipe in the newsletter. (Teri attended the 11 th Annual CQB Mystery Quilt Class)
Curry Dip
1 cup mayonnaise
1 teaspoon grated onion
1 teaspoon horseradish
1 tablespoon cider vinegar
1 tablespoon curry powder
1 tablespoon garlic powder
Blend and serve with vegetables – carrot sticks, celery, radishes, cauliflower, etc.
Teri’s Note: I usually put a scant tablespoon of curry powder and little more cider vinegar. Adjust
to your taste.

Great News - We are going to join the Largo Cracker Quilt Guild and the Hidden
Stitches Quilt Guild for a Mid-Pinellas Quilt Show in February 2015! The dates are
Feb 26, 27 and 28th. The location that is under serious consideration is the
Seminole Rec Center. We definitely need a PQ representative to help Co-Chair
the Quilt Show Steering committee. And one person will be needed to develop a
contract between the guilds for the show. We have a fabulous list of members who
said they would help out. It is a great opportunity for the newer members to get
involved and meet some great and talented people!!
A separate MPQS(Mid-Pinellas Quilt Show) Newsletter will be sent with the
December 2013 edition of the Template Times!
PROCRASTINATING QUILTERS BO2M 2014
Following a request from a Guild member, we are presenting a size guide for next
year’s project so that if you wish, you can start shopping for supplies when you have
time over the holidays.
This year’s project is a quilt, and as previously, is designed to challenge you to make it
your own, adapt and alter to fit your own preferences. In order to facilitate easy
substitutions, we have decided on a uniform size grid, which will allow you to make
either a smaller or larger quilt according to
personal preference. There will be a combination
of techniques, and as always, you may either take
the challenge or substitute!
The center is based on a simple rectangle, and
the size of this is your choice provided the
dimensions can be divided by 3
Examples of center sizes:
6” x 12” This size will result in a quilt finishing at 60” x 66” if you do all the rounds
as suggested and do not complete the bonus.

12” x 18” This size will result in a quilt finishing at 66” x 72” if you do all the rounds

18” x 24” This size will result in a quilt finishing at 72” x 78” if you do all the rounds
as suggested and do not complete the bonus
I have a panel size 21” x 24” which I want to use: this will result in a quilt 75” x 78”
without the bonus.
You can start with any center, square if you prefer, depending on how you want this
project to look. You could have 9” x 12”, 12” x 15”, 18” x 21”, 24” x 27” etc.
Just ensure that whatever you choose is divisible by 3 on both sides
Rounds will be 3” finished or 6” finished depending on the month, in rotation. There
will be some hexies, some appliqué, some piecing.
You can make them all, change the order, leave some out, add some in, and combine
two rounds to have one bigger round, whatever your heart desires provided we stick
to the rule of multiples of 3”
Let’s look at a few size examples and their respective rounds:
Center 6” x 12” – first round 12” x 18”, second round 24” x 30”, third round 30” x
36”, fourth round 42” x 48”, fifth round 48” x 54”, sixth round 60” x 66”
Center 12” x 18” – first round 18” x 24”, second round 30” x 36”, third round 36” x
42”, fourth round 48” x 54”, fifth round 54” x 60”, sixth round 66” x 72”
Center 18” x 24” – first round 24” x 30”, second round 36” x 42”, third round 42” x
48”, fourth round 54” x 60”, fifth round 60” x 66”, sixth round 72” x 78”
The bonus will increase these sizes if you choose to do it.
A pattern will be offered every 2 months for the next round, so in January you will
receive a suggestion for a center and the first border. Standard sizes have been

chosen to allow you more freedom in substituting other blocks which you might prefer
(or already have made). Take some time to go through your stash, think about some
of the fabrics you have been collecting or choose a seasonal theme, or use the
opportunity to make something completely out of your usual comfort zone.

I would just like to take a couple of lines to let you all know how much I enjoyed publishing the
Template Times during the past 2 years for you. Although not a perfect product, it was fun getting the
information to you and surfing google to find the images I would use each month. It was the perfect
fit for me these past few years and now I’m on to other guild tasks.
To all those members who are hesitant to put their toes in the water, don’t be! The only way we grow
and learn is to push our limits. We are all here to work together to promote this wonderful ‘hobby’
called quilting!
Good luck, Karen!!! I am only a phone call or email away if you need anything!
