Ecosystem for Holistic Development
The Road Map for AUM LAI – To contribute in the Ecosystem for Holistic Land-Use Development.
The critical development needs of India are multi-dimensional. Given that a significant strength of India, is derived from its demographic dividend;
India needs to focus on its ability to create employment opportunities for its youth. Estimates suggest that India needs to create 11 million jobs every
year, to meet its employment needs. Bridging the socio-economic disparity is another key challenge for India, for which, India needs to re-work its
strategies that address the anomaly in which 70% of India’s work force is deriving its livelihood from agriculture but agriculture comprises only 17% of
India’s GDP. Besides, India is committed to harness its development efforts within the climate change challenge that endangers our planet.
AUM LAI, with its parent body’s LAI’s repository of trans-disciplinary expertise and knowledge, is uniquely poised to be a strong catalyst to provide
holistic solutions for the development of urban, semi-urban and rural habitats. We have adapted global models study-based solutions to India’s
environment. Our approach will be to study the local social-economic and ecological environment at the grass root (village) level; ensure strategic
adaptability and deliver operating results that meet the aspirations of the local populace. Our studies will focus on variables such as land use
allocation, forest regeneration, and protection, water conservation, and emigration.
AUM LAI will then combine the local understanding within the regional dynamics and the national policy; and we will then develop future scenarios
for the larger region as well as its micro segments, which once accepted will be implemented through a series of workshops. AUM LAI will then apply
this framework to projects for a review and assessment. Based on the assessment results, the plans and processes will be tweaked so that we are on
path of continuous improvement to be in sync with the soaring ambitions of our Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to build India as a buoyant
and sustainable new economic power of the world.
