BIOME PROJECT DUE February 26, 2015!
“My Future Vacation”
You have decided that you want to go on a vacation to reward yourself for all your effort on
the Biome Icosahedron Project in Ms. Sonne’s class; however, you will need the help of your
parents to fund this vacation and of course, a chaperone! You must decide which biome you
would like to travel to and create a multi-step project to present to your parents and your
chaperone (Ms. Sonne) for your epic adventure THIS SUMMER!
The following is a list of all that must be included in your project:

List three examples of regions in
different parts of the world that are
part of this biome. Include the name
of the country and any major cities.
8- FUNDING
Please research websites and/or newspapers/advertisements to find airfare and/or hotel
accommodations for your trip. (Groupon/Expedia/Orbitz/Mail Flyers/Billboards)

Page 9- Persuasive Essay
Write a persuasive essay to your parents and Ms. Sonne. Your paper should state why
your parents should fund your vacation and why Ms. Sonne should be the chaperone.
Please include specific details that pertain to your particular biome that will convince
your parents and Ms. Sonne that this is a trip of a lifetime that you CANNOT miss out
on this summer!
Creative Ideas for visual component and/oral presentation! You may also choose one that
is NOT on the list!

Brochure/Pamphlet

PowerPoint Presentation using Orbitz/Expedia/etc

Commercial/Newscast recorded at home OR live in class

Large poster board/display board with ALL information
EXPLANATION/CLARIFICATION/IDEAS/EXAMPLES/ETC

Students may complete this project individually, with a partner and/or with two
other people. NO MORE THAN 3 students per group!

#1-7 This project has MANY sections and will cover Science, Math AND English.
Your goal is to create a brochure/pamphlet/creative visual explaining the biome of
your choice and all the components listed above in 1-7.

#8 Funding: In addition to your brochure/pamphlet, you must also create a
chart/excel spreadsheet and/or any other type of graphic organizer to list all
information regarding funding for this trip. Points will also be earned in your Math
class for this portion! Points will be based on all components completed. To earn up
to the full 25 points, you must include A-E. To earn between 15-19 points, you
must complete A, B, C, and E. To earn between 10-14 points, you must complete
A-B, and E. Students that ONLY complete letter A and E will only be able to
earn up to 5 points!

#9 Persuasive Essay: Ms. Blaisdell and Ms Sonne will be grading your persuasive
essays and will count in your English class as well as towards the full 100 points in
Ms. Sonne’s class. You will need to include a copy of your persuasive essay within
your project to Ms. Sonne as well as submit a copy to Ms. Blaisdell in English class;
therefore, you will need to make TWO copies of your essay.

Oral Presentation: Presentations will take place on February 26th and 27th!
Students will present to the class their brochure/pamphlet/visual project on their
biome, their charts for funding as well as a brief explanation as to why they believe
their trip should be funded by their parents and chaperoned by Ms. Sonne.
(therefore, a brief speech is recommended to be made ahead of time!)
Your biome project is worth a total of 100 points! 25 points for each component! Please use
the attached rubrics to help guide you through your project!
Remember….have fun with this project and see me if you should have ANY questions. You may
also email me! [email protected]. Our classroom will be open on Tuesdays and Thursday
during lunch for students to work together! If needed, I am able to stay after school til 4pm on
requested days!
