An exciting first for OBPC
will happen on Sunday,
September 18th at 10:30
am (yes, that’s right 10:30
am). We will hold our first
ever Worship Service/
Church Anniversary Picnic
outdoors! The Worship and Fellowship
Committees have been hard at work the past
few months to coordinate this event. It all
takes place just over the bridge in Currituck
County at the Sound Park in Point Harbor.
The park is located on your right just after
passing Parker’s Landing and the BP Gas
Station on your right. Darrell’s Restaurant
will cater the delicious B-B-Q, Fried Chicken
lunch afterwards. We hope to offset the
$15.00 charge per person by voluntary
contributions in baskets provided at lunch.
Please mark your calendars and plan to be
with us as we go “Down to the River to Pray”.
There is a sign-up sheet located next to the
Visitor’s Center in the Gathering Space. Please
sign-up to let us know your intention of
attending so that we can have an idea of a
number for food. You may also indicate
bus/carpool if you would like a ride.

THIRD THURSDAY LUNCH: Sept. 15
THIRD
THURSDAY
LUNCH
Hope you had a great summer. We will kick off Third Thursday Lunches by going to
Henry’s in Kitty Hawk. Henry's is on the bypass at the 5.5 milepost. The date is
Thursday, September 15, at noon. You will make your own selection off their menu,
and receive a separate check.
Everyone is invited to come – church members and friends. In order for Henry's to
have enough seats and staff, please let Jeanne Martie (441-8608 or
[email protected]) know by Sunday, September 11 if you will be attending. Hope
to see you there!
CELEBRATION OF BAPTISMS: Sept. 11
Next Sunday, September 11, Logan Walter and Lily Irene, children of Brad and
Christine Pickens, will be baptized during the morning worship service at Outer
Banks Presbyterian Church! The church family is invited to celebrate their
baptisms with a reception following the service in the fellowship hall. Please
come out and help welcome Logan and Lily to our church family!
Additionally, if you would like to bring basic baby care items to help stock-up
Lily’s nursey at home, feel free to do so on this day. Helpful items would include
diapers, fragrance-free wipes, burp cloths, etc. Most of all, Brad and Christine
would appreciate your presence as they celebrate the baptisms of their precious
children!

Harbor, NC (10:30 am)
Sunday, Sept. 25: Called meeting of
the congregation following the
morning worship service.
In these verses, Jesus tells us the parable of
the lost coin and the lost sheep. One sheep
wanders away from the flock, yet the
shepherd leaves all the other sheep to find
the one who is lost. In the Bible, a nomad is
a wanderer; one who is lost as a nomad has
wandered away from the faith. God’s desire
is to bring those who have wandered away
back into the fold.
This Morning’s Scripture Lessons
September 4, 2016
The First Scripture Lesson: Psalm 139: 1-6
O Lord, you have searched me and known me. You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you
discern my thoughts from far away. You search out my path and my lying down, and are
acquainted with all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, O Lord, you know it
completely. You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is
too wonderful for me; it is so high that I cannot attain it.
The Second Scripture Lesson: Psalm 139: 7-18
Where can I go from your spirit? Or where can I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven,
you are there; if I make my bed in Sheol, you are there. If I take the wings of the morning and
settle at the farthest limits of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand
shall hold me fast. If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light around me become
night,” even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is as bright as the day, for darkness is as
light to you. For it was you who formed my inward parts; you knit me together in my mother’s
womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; that I
know very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret,
intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes beheld my unformed substance. In your
book were written all the days that were formed for me, when none of them as yet existed.
How weighty to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! I try to count
them—they are more than the sand; I come to the end—I am still with you.
LEADER: This is the Word of the Lord.
PEOPLE: Thanks be to God.
