StuCo News: HHS Student Council decided to change up its Valentine’s Day fundraiser this year! The
Match-o-Matic online quiz program will use your answers to match you up with someone similar at HHS. To
get your results, bring $1 to lunch TODAY Valentine’s Day and look for the Match-o-Matic table!
Iceland World Challenge Trip: If you are interested the two week trip to Iceland with World Challenge in
July 2018, please see Ms. O'Connor in Room 289.
Students who were absent last week are reminded to bring in notes regarding their absence.
Interested in helping to make HHS Green Week the best one ever? Join a subcommittee of the Green Team
when it meets to begin planning the festivities. The planning begins on THIS Wednesday morning at 7:30am
in Room 103. New members are always welcome!
Construction Technology Tour: Please see your guidance counselor if you are interested in signing up for a
tour of “Traces.” (Date/time will be announced at a later date.)
Attention Juniors: HHS seeks nominations for the Massachusetts Boys and Girls State programs. Both
programs offer studies of the democratic process by simulating local and state level governments. Participants
run for elected offices, deliver speeches, and pass laws. Potential candidates must exhibit above average
academic standing, possess qualities of leadership, scholarship, patriotism, and service, demonstrate a
preference for public speaking or debate, and believe in ideals of “God and Country”. The programs run
between June 17-23 at Stonehill College. Participants must attend the full term of the program and would
have to arrange to take their final exams early. If you are interested, please talk to your history teacher or Mr.
Hoey. Applications are accessible on the HHS Social Studies website and must be returned by
Wednesday, February 15th.
Hingham Recreation Summer Jobs: It’s that time of year again and the Hingham Rec is accepting
applications for summer positions! The Rec has availability for Counselors, CITs, and they are excited to
announce Lifeguards and Swim Instructors! Counselors, Lifeguards, and Swim Instructors must be 16 years old
by June 1, 2017. For Lifeguard applicants, you may still apply as a lifeguard if you will be certified by June 1,
2017. Applications are available online at hinghamrec.com, at the Hingham Rec office and in the Main Office
& Guidance offices at HHS. All applications must be turned TOMORROW at 5pm.
This Thursday Assistant Superintendent Dr. James LaBillois will be in the Senior Lounge during all lunches
to meet with any student who would like to discuss the characteristics or qualities they'd like to see in the new
Hingham High School Principal. All students’ feedback is welcomed.
Daffodil Days ~ HHS is pleased to announce that we surpassed our $1,500 goal by raising $1,690 –
129 bunches of daffodils and 16 Gift of Hope donations for the American Cancer Society! Thank you to
all faculty, staff, students and parents who participated. Flowers will be delivered the week of March
13th.
HHS History Day Contest: Congratulations to the following juniors for winning the HHS History Day

chance to move on to the state and national contests.

Hacky Sack Club: On February 20th HHS Hacky Sack Club will be hosting a Chipotle night from 4-8pm,
everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend! This club meets every Thursday morning at 7:15am in Mr.
Griffin’s Room 170…all are welcome!
2017 Town of Hingham Scholarship: Applications for graduating seniors are available on line through the
HHS website under the HHS Counseling Scholarship page. Paper copies are also available in the HHS
Counseling Department. All seniors are encouraged to apply. Application deadline is Friday, March 3, at
3pm.
Sports News…
Gymnastics Team: Congratulations to the team on a fantastic performance at the League meet last
Saturday. The team scored a season's best 131.1 and finished 3rd overall!
Girls’ Basketball: Girls’ Basketball would like to invite all students to join us in celebrating Senior Night
2017 TONIGHT. Come support our great Seniors as they take on the Lakers from Silver Lake, tip off is at
6:30pm.
Coast Guard Auxiliary: Is teaching a 10 week class at Hingham High School on Saturdays (9:30-11:30am)
and Wednesdays (6:30-8:30pm) starting March 4. Cost to students is $50.00 payable at the first class. To
register call 781-682-6109.
Did You KNOW…
Staff Member of the Month: Congratulations to Mrs. Field in our computer labs for being Staff Member of
the month. She is extremely kind to each and every student she encounters and is always there to help
students!
Want to be better organized ~ purchase an HHS agenda book for only $4 in the Main Office. Cash or check
made payable to HHS PTO are accepted!
Please remember if you are coming into HHS tardy…you must check in the Main Office with Mrs.
O’Connell for a tardy pass.
CPR Certification: Any senior who would like to renew their CPR certification before they graduate should
contact Ms. Beatty by signing up in the Main Office. There are a limited number of spots available.
Senior Lounge will be open during all periods. Seniors interested in using the Senior Lounge during their
study should report directly to the Senior Lounge. They will be called into their study for attendance.
Senior Lounge is not to be used during lunch periods. If you have a study during a lunch period, you will need
to remain in study, sign up for the LMC, or sign in to the computer lab.
The Homework Club is back! Thanks to our PTO, students can join their peers on Monday nights from 6:30
– 8:30pm in the HHS LMC to complete their homework, work on a project or essay, or review challenging
material. Any HHS student is welcome! Students can get help from classmates who have been recommended
by their teachers as peer tutors. See Ms. O'Connor in Room 289 with questions or to request help in a
particular subject.
Attention Seniors: Please refer the HHS website home page “2017 Yearbook Information” for all the details
on submitting portraits, baby photos, senior quotes, candids etc. The yearbook staff strongly recommends
sending all this information electronically. Please watch deadline dates!
Bus Routes are posted on the HHS website. Also the bus number you ride in on in the a.m. maybe
different than the bus number you take home. (There are no after school LATE BUSES at HHS.) Be
aware that the majority of dismissal buses leave promptly at the close of the school day at the 17 Union
Street entrance.
Parking: Any HHS student may park on the campus of HHS provided that his/her car displays the appropriate
parking sticker and the car is parked in the areas designated for student parking. Parking in the Union Street
close lot is open ONLY TO SENIORS who have purchased a parking sticker ~ cost is $60. There is no fee for
a sticker to park in the far Union Street lot which is open to any HHS student. Applications for both lots
must be completed BEFORE parking and are available in the Main Office. Listen to the PA
announcements for when stickers will be displayed on vehicles. See Officer Ford if you have any
questions.
Attention Student Athletes ~ please remember to take off all cleats when entering the
building/gym/locker rooms. No cleats are to be worn in the building.
CAFETERIA: All students require a pin number to purchase lunch or any items sold in the Cafeteria. (The
POS pin number is also available through the Aspen X2 portal. To find it, go to the Demographics tab. It is the
last item listed in the left-hand column under the state identifier.)
TARDY INFORMATION: Students please remember that if you are tardy, you are to report the Main
Office area for a tardy slip. Students need to just bring in a signed note from a parent when reporting to
the Main Office. A parent does not need to accompany them.
DISMISSAL/ABSENT NOTE INFORMATION: All dismissals require a signed note from a parent.
Students should see Mrs. Player in Mrs. Henriksen’s office ONLY for dismissals or for any exempt
absent notes. Please see her before first period. Her office is located at the end of the Social
Studies/English corridor (2nd floor) next to the Nurse’s Office; Room 297. Regular absence notes from
home can be given to the student’s A Block teacher. (Students being dismissed by the nurse are to be
picked up by parents at the Pleasant Street entrance.)
Reminder ~ PLEASE LEAVE ALL VALUABLES LOCKED IN LOCKERS WHEN ATTENDING
CLASSES, GYM CLASSES OR WHEN GOING OUT TO FIELDS FOR AFTER SCHOOL SPORTS.
