Kiawah/Twin Rivers District Pinewood Derby Schedule April20 7 – 7:00 – 7:45 PM Friday May St. James Church - Set up track – A few volunteers will be needed.1872 Camp Rd, Charleston, SC 29412 Saturday May April218 – Race Day Tigers: Check in @ 9am - Race Time @ 9:30 Wolves: Check in @ 9:30 - Race Time @ 10:00 Bears: Check in @ 10:00 - Race Time @ 10:30 Jr. Webelos: Check in @ 10:30 - Race Time @ 11:00 Sr. Webelos: Webelos:Check Checkinin@@11:00 11:00 - Race Time Sr. - Race Time @11:30 11:30 Open Division (scouts/parents/siblings): Check in 11:30 - Race Time @ 12:00 Noon 4 The overall length of the car shall not exceed 7 inches. 5 The overall width of the car shall not exceed 2 ¾ inches. 6 The car must have 1 ¾” clearance between the wheels. 7 The car must have 3/8” clearance underneath the body. 8 The Axles locations cannot be modified. This includes adding wood to the front of the car to “move the axles back” 9 The wood provided in the kit must be used. The block may be shaped any way that is desired. 10 The wheels supplied with the kit must be used or wheels from the BSA STORE ONLY. The wheels may not be cut, drilled, beveled or rounded. You may remove the seam from the wheels. 11 The axles supplied with the kit must be used. They may be polished or lubricated. 12 Wheel bearings, washers or bushings are prohibited. 13 The car must not ride on any type of springs. 14 The car must be freewheeling, with no starting devices. 15 No loose material of any kind, such as lead shot, **All scouts are welcome to compete in this division ** may be used. 16 Cars that were purchased completed may not be used. Finals (Top 3 cars from each level): 12:30 17 Height: Depending upon the track, the front of the car may rest against a short starting pin. Therefore the front Post Races - Clean up and put away track – a few volunteers will be needed. If you want to race but can’t attend at your specific time you may check-in your car at an earlier time.
