A Counting Song
Five red apples
hanging on a tree
The juiciest apples you ever did see!
The wind came past

Materials/Props: Communication board with an illustrated version of the
song, large manila envelope with a large empty fruit tree pasted and
laminated onto the front, individual laminated picture symbols of red,
yellow and green apples (5 of each), individual laminated numerals 1 - 10,
large manila envelope with the illustrated song affixed and laminated (this
is the songboard), and velcro.
Activity: Begin using a completed prop (all apples are on the tree). As
you sing the song, point to the symbols on the song board, offer children
opportunities to remove the apples when appropriate.
Variation: substitute “red” with “yellow” or “green”
