As a non for profit organisation, the objective of the entity is to deliver quality Early Childhood Education and Care services, providing and exceeding the standard of care and learning facilities for children who we considered to be our future leaders. Our aesthetically pleasing environments take into consideration accessibility of resources to children, recognising the environments as the third teacher contributing to children’s learning. UWSELL services’ engaging atmosphere will provide opportunities for growth of knowledge, skills, allowing children to conduct their own enquiries making decisions about their own learning. Collaborative partnerships with our families, UWS students, staff and the diverse community is the underpinning of every day operations. The entity provides a central management structure that is developed to ensure the necessary interface with UWS business processes and to oversee the effective management of the Education and Care services. There are six UWSELL Early Childhood Services operating on the following UWS teaching Campuses – Bankstown, Blacktown, Campbelltown, Hawkesbury, Parramatta and Penrith. Position Purpose The UWS Early Learning Certificate Educator is expected to be an active member of the team which provides high quality early childhood education and care to children. This includes assisting in the implementation of UWSELL policy and procedures at all times, developing strong and supportive relationships with families, educators and children and working with other staff towards continuous improvement in all areas of the service operation. Actively engage and support children to participate and complete physical activities. Take responsibility for the protection and rights of children attending the service; • Diligence in recording and reporting as required as mandatory notifiers relating to child protection issues Assist to ensure the service’s child protection policy is implemented: Ensure compliance as a mandated reporter which requires reporting to Community Services, where there is reasonable grounds to suspect that a child is at risk of significant harm • Participate in review and ensure understanding of responsibilities in relation to Child protection. Complete training as directed. Inform the UWSELL Management of any allegations or convictions of a child protection nature against any other employees or yourself, of which you become aware; and • Reporting reportable incidents • Actively supervise children at all times • Be an active member of the team contribute where appropriate Ensure children are adequately supervised at all times Quality area 3. Physical Environment where possible contribute to the design and location of equipment and furniture to ensure it is appropriate for the operation of the service assist to maintain environments that are inclusive, promote competence, independent exploration and learning through play • At all times be inclusive of all children and encourage children to engage in all activities assist to maintain a clean and safe environment • Complete cleaning tasks and safety checklists to the best of their ability takes an active role in caring for and encouraging children to care for the environment and contributing to a sustainable future • Encourage and role model sustainable practices with children.
