Challenge 4 – Minute Marathon Walk

WHAT IT IS: Marathons are long distance races structured to test your endurance. This
challenge focuses on increasing your endurance.
DIRECTIONS: In this challenge, team members are asked to walk for a longer amount
of time compared to prior challenges. The goal is to walk 200 minutes per week per
person.
Get Ready:
 Team captain meets with team members to discuss the challenge
 Team captain makes decisions as to how long the team will walk based on input
from the team
Get Set:
 All team members review the physical symptoms listed below indicating when they
would need to stop walking and get medical assistance
Go:
 Warm up as a team for 5 minutes
 Begin walking for the longer period of time
 Cool down for 5 minutes
Record Team Results: Successful completion of this challenge includes all team
members walking at least 200 minutes over five days.
During exercise, if you experience chest discomfort, shortness of breath,
dizziness, leg pain, cramping, undue muscle soreness, nausea, vomiting,
excessive sweating, incoordination, or feel light-headed or unusually
fatigued, STOP exercising and contact your physician or call 911.
