TEEN/ADULT CLASSES - YOUNGSTOWN-BUTLER NORTH
BRINGING REALITY TO CANVAS (ALL LEVELS)
This painting class will provide students of all skill levels time to work at
their own pace while creating an oil painting from a photographic source.
This class may be repeated. Students are asked to bring a 5”x 7” photo for
use on an 11” x 14” pre-stretched canvas. (Ambitious students may try
larger surfaces-i.e. 8” x 10” photo with a 16” x 20” canvas but must provide
their own canvas.) Although reference photos that you have taken are
preferred, it is a good idea to have several different photos with you at the
start. In some cases you may like a different sky, or trees or just want to
combine several to make an image more unique or personal. In many cases,
choosing a photo with larger shapes and good contrast from light to dark
may be easier to translate. All supplies for painting in oils will be provided.
Students wishing to work in acrylics may bring their own paints and
instruction will be provided as well. Supply fee is waived if students have
their own supplies. Previous students can use time in class to complete any
earlier oil paintings and begin a new work.
