Introduction paragraph - Provide background information using the Who, What, Where, When, Why and How
This section will include your thesis (Main claim). End the Intro paragraph with your thesis statement.
Hook – how will you hook your reader into your topic? Find an “attention getter” first statement to interest
your reader and give them a reason to continue.
PROMPT: Write an essay of argumentation about the value of a college education. Your essay must be organized
as an argument in which you assert a precise claim, support it with reasons and evidence, and acknowledge and
refute counterclaims fairly. (SpringBoard pg. 83). This is where you present your Issue – (Present BOTH sides of the argument)
