Synonyms
Synonyms are different words with similar meanings; they can be any part of speech such
as: nouns, verbs, adjectives or adverbs.
Examples:
Confused: muddled – puzzled - addled.
Happy: content – joyful - ecstatic.
Run: sprint – jog – trot - hurry.
Antonyms
An antonym is a word which means the opposite of another word.
Examples:
Narrow: wide – broad - open
Hard: soft – supple - limp
Strong: weak – fragile - shaky
Acronyms
Acronyms are shortened versions of a word. They usually use the first letter of each word.
Examples:
BBC – British Broadcasting Corporation
USA – United States of America
UN – United Nations
