This information sheet will tell you about how frogs reproduce and their life cycle (their life) so how do frogs reproduce? And how do they live their lives? Did you know? The female can die because all the males try to mate with her! First the male will make a noise with his throat. This is how he gets a mate. When he find one the he climbs on the her back, this is called amplexus. This is to make sure the sperm reaches the eggs. The frogs could stay in the amplexus position for hours. The male will wrap his forelegs around the females middle. As said before, they stay in this position until the female releases her eggs and as she releases her eggs the male will fertilize them making frogs spawn. DID YOU KNOW? The fertilizing happens outside the female’s body! First the frog will start of as egg mass (this is frogspawn). The next stage of their life is a tadpole. This is when the eggs/frogspawn hatches into tadpoles. ( tadpoles only have gills so they can’t breath on land ) The next stage is tadpoles with legs which helps them to swim smoother and shows they are becoming a young frog. Next it will turn into a young frog so it can come out of the water and walk hop on the land. Finally it will grow into an adult frog and can now reproduce. Did you know? Frogs don't drink water they absorb it through their skin!
