BIOGRAPHY BOOK REPORT
“IT’S IN A CAN”
Due Date: Tuesday, December 8, 2015
Assignment: Read a biography or auto-biography of a
famous American, create a “can” book report, and give an
oral presentation.
You need to do the following in order to fulfill the requirements of this
assignment:
1. Create a list of at least 8 items that relate to the person you read about and include it in
the can. This list should include a short description of the item and an explanation of
why the item was chosen.
example: needle and thread – I chose a needle and thread because
Betsy Ross was famous for sewing the American Flag.
2. Place the 8 items from the list you created inside the can with the list. (If you do not
have the actual item you may draw a picture of the item. However, all of your items
may not be pictures.)
3. Decorate a coffee (or similar type) can in the following manner:






cover with construction or colored paper
include a picture of the person you read about
include the title and author of the book
include the date of birth and death (unless still living)
include your name
make sure the can cover is neat and easy to read
4. Complete the attached Biography Research note-taking page in your best handwriting.
This should be bulleted notes and not sentences.
5. Complete the attached Biography Timeline page that describes the important events of
the famous American’s life.
6. Give a short oral presentation using the can and its contents to tell about the person
you read about.

Be prepared to write an informative text on your famous American.
