"William Bremner, one of the foremost pioneers of Marshall county, passed away at 4:10 o'clock last evening at the home of his son-in-law,
Hon. O.A. Byington, on the West Side."
"He is 81 years of age, and has spent about 60 years in Marshalltown, and the past year with his daughter here."
"He has been hopelessly ill for some time here, but displayed remarkable recuperative qualities and powers of endurance."

"George Bremner, pioneer resident of Lethbridge, passed away in Edmonton this week. Private funeral services were conducted at the
graveside here on Friday afternoon by Rev. J.M. Pritchard and interment followed in the family plot, city cemetery.
"The late Mr. Bremner came to Lethbridge at an early age and was employed as a bookkeeper for a number of local business firms. He was
elected to the city council in 1894, serving to 1898. He was also a member of an early school board here.
"Lethbridge old-timers recall Mr. Bremner clearly. They remember how active he was in public affairs of the growing city.
"Mrs. Bremner, who died in Edmonton five or six years ago, was a sister of the late Mrs. Chas. McKillop of this city. Mrs. Bremner was buried
in the Lethbridge Cemetery.
"The Bremners lived for many years in the house on 5th Avenue South now the property of R.J.R. Paterson. Mr. Bremner was an active
member of Knox Presbyterian Church, and one of the first elders of that church.
"For many years preceding his death he was employed in the Edmonton office of the clerk of the court. He was predeceased by two sons, John
and Dan. Charlie, Edmonton businessman, is the only surviving son."

"Death removed another of the West's old timers on Saturday morning when Janet Bremner, wife of George Bremner and sister of Mrs.,
Charles McKillop, pioneer residents of Lethbridge, passed away in Edmonton following a short illness.
"Born in White Lake, Ontario, Mr. and Mrs. Bremner moved west in the early 90's, Mr. Bremner becoming identified with the McDonald dry
goods store here as manager. Residing here for a comparatively short time, the family moved to Cranbrook and later went to Edmonton to
reside.
"Deceased, who was 77 years of age, leaves to mourn besides her bereaved husband, two sons, John of Edmonton, and Charles of Montreal,
who is in Edmonton at the present time. One brother and one sister survive, Mrs. Charles McKillop of Lethbridge, and Donald Fisher of White
Lake, Ont.
"The remains are being brought to Lethbridge by Mr. Bremner and will arrive here on Tuesday afternoon at 1:10. The cortege will leave the
C.P.R. depot and proceed directly to the cemetery where interment will take place in the family plot. Rev. J.M. Pritchard, of Knox United
Church will officiate at the graveside service.

"Minneapolis, Dec. 13 --- William Hepburn Bremner, president of the Minneapolis and St. Louis Railroad since 1917, died here suddenly
yesterday amid negotiations for mergers with connecting rail systems. He was 65 years old. His widow is the former Emily Thorpe McKell
(sic) of Omaha."
" Mr. Bremner was born in Marshalltown, Iowa, and first worked on the Iowa and Central Railroad, but after qualifying as a civil engineer he
went back to the University of Iowa to study law for two years. In 1895 he received the degree of bachelor of laws and opened an office in Des
Moines. In 1902 he became City Solicitor, holding the position until 1908, when he became attorney for the Minneapolis and St. Louis
Railroad. in 1917 he was elected president of the road. In 1918 when the Federal Government assumed control as a war measure he was

appointed Federal manager under the director-general. After the war he resumed his duties as president, and when the company went into
receivership, he was appointed receiver."
"Under his management as receiver the court was able to order a 20 per cent dividend on preferred claims and a $750,000 repayment of
receiver's certificate. This was in 1930 since when depression has prevented further liquidations."

"Coast Guard Air Station Sitka and Alaska State Troopers searched today for a Yakutat man missing since he tried to swim ashore from a
skiff."
"About 25 search-and-rescue volunteers from Yakutat continued to cover the area in skiffs and on shore through today but by early this
afternoon no trace was found of the missing man. Troy Bremner, 32."
"The search was concentrated 3/4 mile east from the mouth of the Situk and Ahrnklin rivers, about 10 miles south-east of Yakutat, where
Bremner was last seen 11 p.m. Wednesday, said Peter Mylnarik, the Yakutat-based Alaska State Trooper."
"The trooper said the skiff was anchored about 120 feet offshore when Bremner tried to swim to the beach. Several witnesses told Yakutat
police that Bremner, who did not have a flotation device, was not far from the skiff when he disappeared from view, said Mylnarik."
"Bremner's friends called the Yakutat police, who in turn notified the trooper. Mylnarik called the Coast Guard rescue coordination center in
Juneau shortly after midnight to request help."
"Air Station Sitka launched a helicopter at 1:08 a.m. and it reached the area at 3:20 a.m., said Coast Guard spokesman Cory Cichoraki."
"After searching for an hour, the helicopter returned to Sitka, but search-and-rescue workers continued their efforts, said Mlynarik."
"We are still trying to determine what our next move will be," he said this afternoon, commenting that he was not certain of the likelihood of
finding the body. "There are pretty strong currents through here."
"He said alcohol may have been involved, although troopers cannot be certain at this point. "We can't say anything conclusive," he said."
