CONCERT INFORMATION Page 2 of 3 Trombonist Bob Peruzzi’s favorite gig is playing traditional jazz with the likes of Ben Mauger and Bob Kreitz, in both the Vintage Jazz Band and ten-piece Roaring 20’s Orchestra, at venues such as TSJS, Bethlehem Musikfest, Cape May Traditional Jazz Society, Washington, DC’s Potomac River Jazz Club, the Bookstore Speakeasy in Bethlehem, PA, and the former Hot Steamed Jazz Festival in Connecticut. One of TSJS’ most familiar faces, reed master Bob Rawlins makes his third appearance at TSJS this year, having led the Annual Jam Session in June and his own Atlantic City Jazz Band a month later. Bob is a professor of music theory at Rowan University and is the author of several books on jazz including the theory textbook Jazzology and The Real Dixieland Book, a collection of 250 classics he compiled and edited while living in New Orleans. Bob’s most recent book is Tunes of the Twenties. A professional pianist for over 45 years, Reading’s Bob Kreitz has a preference for Dixieland, ragtime, and traditional jazz. In addition to the Vintage Jazz Band, Bob plays with Ben Mauger’s 10piece Roaring Twenties Jazz Orchestra and leads the Pretzel City Dixieland Jazz Band. He has performed at many traditional jazz festivals and societies, including TSJS, PA Jazz Society, Potomac River Jazz Club, the Hot Steamed Jazz Festival of CT, and FL’s SunCoast Jazz Club. Bob has accomplished his long-standing goal of playing both “Broadway” and “Bourbon Street,” in addition to many venues in between. Lancaster, PA native, bassist Bruce Campbell, has played various instruments for numerous Central PA bands since the late 1960's. Bruce is an independent contractor, or “hired gun” as he describes it, performing Gypsy Swing Jazz and straight-ahead jazz as a sideman with pianists and guitarists too numerous to mention, as well as bluegrass and Dixieland styles. He is also in demand as a studio session player, adding his bassist role to numerous folk, blues and jazz recordings. Bruce’s website is: www.fatfiddle.com. Drummer Larry Bortz hails from Shillington, PA (just west of Reading). Larry has been working behind that drum set for over 50 years. He is also a regular member of Reading’s famed Pretzel City Dixieland Jazz Band, and has been performing with the Vintage Jazz Band since 2010. The Venue Community Arts Center, located in Wallingford near I-476 (the "Blue Route") between Media and Swarthmore in Delaware County, is home to Tri-State Jazz Society's Pennsylvania concerts. Traditional jazz bands and solo pianists are presented five or six times a year in the Arts Center’s fully accessible Duke Gallery, a 3100-square-foot space that boasts excellent acoustics, a grand piano, soaring ceilings, post and beam construction and beautiful light. Free parking is available on the premises and complimentary refreshments are served during intermission. ### CONTACT: Robert Robbins at (610) 357-1222 or by email at [email protected].
