Curriculum Development & Teaching Management

As coordinator of the B.A. Translation Program in the English Department at SQU,
played a leading role in the continuous review and improvement of the Program

Developed and/or contributed to the development of the contents of many courses in
the English Department at SQU including: TRAN6220 (Pragmatics & Translation),
TRAN3421 (Media & Journalism), TRAN3123 (Literary Translation), ENGL4420
(Translation Studies), TRAN2321 (Translation I), TRAN2322 (Translation II),
TRAN2032 (Arabic Syntax)

Contributed to the development of the Diploma/M.A. Program in the English
Department at SQU since 2009

Served as member of the English Department Curriculum Committee at SQU since
2010

Served as coordinator of several courses in the English Department at SQU (such as:
TRAN2321, TRAN2322, ENGL3419, TRAN3421, TRAN3123, ENGL4420,
TRAN4422)

Planned and guided three translation student excursions and led one to the Omani
institutions: The Observer and Oman dailies (December 2012), Oman News Agency
(December 2013), Oman TV & Radio (December 2014) and Petroleum Development
Oman (December 2013)

Provided guidance for M.A. students in conducting research as part of course
requirements in TRAN6200 Translation Studies: Theory & Application

Used Moodle, Word and PowerPoint programs for teaching and learning.
Student Advising
Served as academic advisor for an average of about 20 undergraduate students per year at
SQU since 2007.

Research Interests: translation studies, cross-cultural communication, pragmatic and
functional dimensions of translation, explicitation and implicitation in translation,
globalization and localization, media translation.
